The timing belt is due for renewal in a few months, anyone give me an idea what it will cost?

I will be also having the water pump done at the same time.

think vRScarl has just had his changed.

I think with 60k service, water pump and timing belt, and the fitting of brake pads, it came to £900 iirc.

What mileage should the belt be done, 80k?

Not quite that much Sy, that included 2 new tyres :p

At OP

The 3rd variable plus Cambelt & Water pump and fitting of DS2500's cost £646 all in at Mitchell Skoda in Cheshire Oaks.

The Cambelt and Pump on it's own will cost around £350-400 depending on dealer. Just ring around and then tell your nearest dealer the best price (you could even get it wrong by about £20 :notme: ) and they will usually price match. It's what i always do

At Mickey - Skoda recommend 75k. Dealers recommend anything from 60-80k depending on who you ring. I had mine done at 52k purely because of being at Stage 2+ and my next service won't be till around 70k miles so i would rather not take the risk. Pay £400 now or £4500+ for new engine. No brainer for me

Been quoted £444 inc vat and new water pump at Bickerton Skoda!

That sounds about right.

Try knock them down by telling them you got a couple of cheaper quotes and say something daft like £403.56 Inc of VAT and fitting.

It's what I may or may not do from time to time :notme:
