how do you remove the window winder from a Octavia.

This is how you take the door apart if it helps - all four doors are very similar.

Very easy when you know how.

Tried sliding the collar but it still won't budge.

I was wondering if there is some sort of clip holding it.

The pictures from RobClubly were good but they had no winder.

There could be a wire horse shoe shaped clip on the shaft of the winder mechanism. You may be able to pull it with a small hook, though they are easier with the correct flat metal trim tool. If you push the panel in and pull the handle slightly you should see it. They have the habit of springing off, once released and are easily lost.
