Hazard warning lights under emergency braking.

Featured Replies

I have read in the brochure that under emergency braking the warning lights come on and flash. How heavily does one need to brake to initiate this? Is it literally stamping on the brakes or does normal heavy braking such that spirited driving might provoke? If it is the latter can this feature be switched off or moderated somewhat?

You have to be performing an Emergency Stop.

I have tried to replicate it and i literally did have to stand on the pedal. It has also functioned twice now when performing Emergency Stops. Once when some twonk stopped on a blind bend on a 60mph road and the other when some old dear (bless her :wonder: ) pulled out of a side street in front of me.

IF it is already activated then you will be able to turn it off with VCDS

That is great thank you. I am quite happy with the function if it performs as you describe. i was just a little perplexed that they might highlight my progress as I whiz along the lanes.

Every car I've had with this feature did require very heavy braking to activate it. I've only ever activated it in an emergency.

Presume it's linked to EBA activiation ?

Yep, as Carl says it's under emergency braking conditions. It was off on my Octy as default and I was able to enable it for people via VCDS and it then worked successfully from then on when tested

Steve

Why would you want to disable it?

 Take it on a track day?

If your conducting Emergency Braking on a track day then IMHO you shouldn't be on he track in the first place :p :p

Why would you want to disable it?

If the Hazards only come on under emergency braking then i would not need to remove their operation but if the came on just because I liked using heavy braking coming up to low speed bends, then I would want to delete this function. I am not a Christmas tree! It looks as though it should not be a problem following what others have said. So I would not need to to take a knife to it. :giggle:

If you can activate it with normal or spirited driving you need to do one of 2 things.

1, Remove the lead from your right shoe before braking

2, Re-Take your driving test.

You really need to be stopping urgently (as in brown trousers moment), and be doing over 60KPH for it to work.

You don't need to be doing over 60mph.

When the Old dear pulled out on me i was in a 40mph limit (doing 39 officer :p ) and mine activated when i had to stand on the pedal. I was way under 60mph.

I will have to see when the time comes for ownership. I will just snip it off it becomes a nuance by activating when I do not wish it too. It is not a mandatory requirement most cars do not have it and if I feel the need to flash I will know where the switch is. Hopefully it will just lie dormant for most of the time. It is quiet here mainly, I think that flashing lights might upset the locals, it will ruin they constitution, they have only just accepted the wheel here.

Like i said earlier. If you activate it in normal or spirited driving then you need to re-take your test :p :moon:

That is your opinion and your entitled to it it is not mine.

im being sarcastic in an effort to highlight it's not something that is easily activated

Carl

It's also a fact that's been backed up by others in the thread

 sorry, I do not seem to be able to pick upon sarcasm or white in the written word at times. Their are no non verbal clews. OK I see what your getting at.

Dont worry about it Anthony! You wont activate it accidentally.

Carl, I'm sure I put KPH after 60. Obv I didnt.
