forge splitter r

Featured Replies

Hi all just purchased a forge splitter r and to be honest i have no idea with these things so just wondering how best to set it up as clockwise is one thing anti-clockwise another just which is best?

send it back and get a 007p as the split r are crap and the car really doesnt like them full recirc is the way to go you still get the chav noise lol

lol I dont know why you would wanna pay £100+ for the SplitR when the 007p is basically what VAG made for the engine just stronger and it still makes a nice noise that doesnt make ppl turn and think what a ...........

lol

I did like the sound but gone off it now as the descreet sound you get from the 007p is soo much nicer and its kind of stealthy.

What's a split R.....is that like a bumper trim?

+1

I used to have one and could never get it set right and the car was never that smooth with it. I gave Forge a call and they swapped it for a 007p which has been great.

lol

a funny,

if you dont know its a DV the is made so it recircs some of the air in the system and vents some out so you get the sound of the scubaru on lift off.

you can change the amount it sends back intop the system.

If it aint broke don't mod it.

If it aint broke don't mod it.

is that why you mod yours alot??? lol :giggle::giggle::giggle:

My split r was also a bag of crap! Send it back and get a 007p, NOW!

The splitR is fine

No need to send it back , but the best thing to do it set it up correctly

Go on all the forums , and have a look to see how many people ask thhis question

Have you set it up?

THAT is the best way od fetting it up

All the cars are different , with different mods

So who can tell you how many clicks you need?

If I could , I will tell you I would not be here now , I would of had the 6 numbers and retired now , and not going grey over people asking how many clicks their splitR valve needs

Turn the valve all the way to the left , fit on to a cold engine

When it warms , then it will start to make a nise

Turn to the right untill the noise has gone and the engine is up to temp

Then turn another 2 clicks!!!!

All done , it is that simple

Rather than get board , have a beer , I would LOL

So rather than get everyone else , that has not got on with their splitR to tell you what to do , just set it up

Sorry , did that sound harsh.....I didnt mean to

If you need any more help , look at Forge`s web site , full instructions under Media

Thanks all for responding the reason i have purchased the splitter r is the remap place told me this is the best one for my car as this will now be the 3rd different one i have fitted as the bloody thing wont run with the others so this one seems to be doing the trick just wanted to set it up so i know its not my fault if something goes wrong again and i have blanked the trumpet off so happy days

well your remap place hasnt got a clue then have they lol

we fellow briskodians have spent alot of money on these cars trying all different mods and i can tell you if you have tried other and still have problems and your mapper saysthe split r is the best for the 1.8 then he clearly hasnt got a clue and i suggest you go else where......

as for sarah saying there okay thats all well and good for selling a product but the people that use them day in and day out that have all since change to the 007p there is a reason for that dont you think???

sorry sarah dont mean to sound bad

p.s can you tell us more about it wont run with the othe d.v?? doesnt make sense to me

nor me, unless the mapper has some how mapped in the loss of all air on lift off so the car knows that the release is gonna happen?

The 1.8 T vag engine is designed so that there is no loss of air out of the system once it has passed the MAF so the ECU knows the amount of air in the system and can fuel accordingly, if you all of a sudden put the SplitR on there and there is air going to atmosphere then it basically is a leak in the system and there is not as much air in the system as the ecu thinks so screws with it. you will get away with it tripping the limp but it still wouldnt do it any good IMO.

again its money too, why spend more on something that the engine is not made to go with OR spend less on something that is a stronger better replacement for the item the engine is designed to use?

I have forge splitter valve on my mk1 vrs in hybrid mode, car is remapped so I have turned it 21 clicks. 16 clicks is for stock 1.8t.

You can always put the plug instead of the trumpet and have full recirculate mode.

I can`t see any difference between splitter valve and audi TT DV valve (710N).

Best regards

yes mate gonzaga is right i phoned forge up and they said turn it all the way anticlockwise and for standard boost go from 16 - 18 clicks clockwise or for remaped boost go to 21 clicks. and thats straight from the horses mouth , i have a split r and had no probs with it but i trust people on this site they really no what they are on about and i might change to 007p just to be on the safe side.

Splitter valve was given to me as a gift so I couldn`t choose, but billy2981is right, go for 007p.

I spoke to skoda mechanic who owns mk1 vRS and he said that bosch 710N valve holds boost up to 1.5bar. He`s car is also remapped.

Is this true?

Dont forget that the bosch 710 is on the 2.7 V6 RS4 engine and works fine so a remapped 1.8t is nothing really,

The thing with the 007p is its a piston version of the 710. basically a stronger version that in theory should last as long as the car, as the bosch valve is plastic and rubber diaphragm that gets old and degrades. Also there is nothing to mess around with on it its a bolt on replacement and is simple to use

couldnt say the pressure rating of the 710 but it will be more than a K03s can give you i would say.

Do you have to set the Split-r up or will it run ok as standard? i fitted one to my standard mk1 vrs 3 months ago straight out the box and it seems fine.

Hi

Yes , you sounded harsh ;) , but to get me to reply

And that is what I will do

I will stand by the fact that Forge produce some of THE best equipment that I have seen , and when it comes to DV`s they are stunning

The SplitR is the one that was in development for the longest time

So much research was done

So you can rely on them being good

Also Awesome GTi is one of the largest selling retailers for Forge

(It also helps when my fella worked there and was on the team for producing them)

But my son`s mate had an Audi TT , and went to a local Audi speciallist to have a dump valve fitted (good specialist eh? )

On his way home , his car went in to limp mode

So he had a chat with my son , and he told him of the SplitR

So he got one , then my son had a chat with Mark , the guy who worked at Forge , and was given verbal instructions of how to fit and set up

my son did it , all to the letter that he had been given

I see and hear mainly the car going round our little village most weeks , he still has not had any issues with the car and still runs fine

Here we have fitted a few and all the time , set up as required

No issues here

The only time you hear of issues is with the forums , as I said , have these been set up? I dont know?

Just my 2p worth ;)
