Octavia 1 central locking problems

Featured Replies

I am aware this appears to be a fault with many Skodas from what I read.

I have a 2001 Octavia TDI estate and have changed the batteries in the key fobs, red light blinks when pressed, and the cars central locking does not trigger.

I also have to open this manually as it is a pain as many times the 4 windows go down and I have to gently fiddle with the lock and get the doors to shut manually.

I also noted that once in the car, when I press the button to lock the doors internally the locks go up and then back down again and cannot reset from there.

Any ideas?

There could be more than one fault, with the windows activating it sounds like the end of the lock barrel is breaking up, sticking in position and activating the convenience function, repair kits should be available to sort this cheaply. With the remote not working, they could be out of synchronisation or it could be the problem of water ingress into the door control unit/wiring loom, or the washer pipe under where the CD changer is fitted in other models in the left hand side of the boot could be leaking and soaking the wiring there, very easy to check.

thanks for your response and shall have a wee look in the boots area under the multichanger. Can't recall if I said it was an estate?

Today ive got angry with it and failed to get the barrel out to have a look and failed miserably so i sprayed some WD40 inside the lock and guess what,..... No problems so far, but i only did this today, i took it to Skoda last december and they were qoting me nearly £400 which made me want to instantly want to sell it. I still have the Remote problem tho.

hope that your problem disappears and for me well since I reconnected the hose and taped it up under the CD multichanger, all appears to be working well, so fingers and toes crossed!!!!
