Fabia Combi alarm problem

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

My wife's 2006 Fabia Combi has developed a problem with the Alarm. As of today the alarm is randomly going off on it's own. Interestly it was only serviced on Monday last, and had a full valet on Tuesday. So I don't think it's an issue with the battery.

Can you guys shed any light on what the problem might be, and offer any tips on how to resolve it without having to go to the dealer again?

Thanks,

Mully

Any Ideas guys?

My Fabia Estate is having the same problem with intermittant outbursts of the alarm going off! Not having much luck in tracking down the fault. I had a similar problem 2 years ago which was the interior protection sensor. This was diagnosed by pressing the lock button twice which turns the interior sensor off. When I did this it cured it. Unfortunately this time my alarm is going off despite turning the interior sensors off! I need some help too if anyone has any ideas with intermittant alarm problems?

Brought mine to the garage. They say the solenoid and horn are shot. €580 to fix. I just had them disconnect the alarm.

Took my car into Dennis Horton & Sons Skoda in Lincoln today. Without any appointment they did not hesitate to take my car in and kept it for the day whilst I was at work. The alarm fault turned out to be the siren unit itself which they showed in stock. However the computer was wrong and the part was actually due to arrive tomorrow. This part is now going to be reserved for my car and will be fitted and ready tomorrow (£180 fitted). They also noted that my two day old brand new silver Bosch battery from Halfords failed a voltage drop test. Me thinks that will be going back to Halfords ASAP. Particularly when the Halfords fitter took 1 hour to try and fit it, dropping the battery clamp down then engine bay in the process. And when he finally went inside the store to get help I used his tools to finish the job myself much to his surprise when he came back out to see the bonnet down! I think Halfords need to do some staff training quick!

I've had a similar problem with my VRS. The alarm keeps going off randomly, it was fine one Sunday all day and then it sounded at 2.30am -My neighbors invented some new swear-word combinations that morning I'm sure. With the alarm still sounding as soon as I'd removed my foot ware, I took it to Autohaus in Edinburgh and for a tightly clasped tenner, showed me the fault code that came up was "Alarm Horn'. The guy at reckons it has to be the horn itself. I've priced up a horn from the stealer and it's just shy of £100.

I'll have a look at the old one first, to see if there's anything wrong with the wires to it, then I might try an auto breakers!

Most Alarm issues during the winter Months are battery related, The Battery Voltage drops quickly & the Alarm see's this as an attempt to steel it, (Door Opening, Interior light Etc Etc) They all have a Voltage drop sensor...

Get your Battery's checked first at a Reliable Motor Factors / Garage, Not one that is willing too Fit Parts Willy Nilly :D

Try WD40 in the door locks and especially around the boot and bonnet switches.

Mine was forever going off and this has cured it for the last year.
