DPF Regen on a vRS CR170

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have covered almost 3000 miles in my vRS CR170 now and was wondering how often in terms of mileage the DPF has to do it's regeneration thing - no sign yet.

Also if you cover a lot of motorway cruising miles, as I do, I was wondering if it does a passive burn off under these conditions and whether I would notice anything at all?

Cheers,

Bob.

You've heard that quote about 'nails' and 'on the head' haven't you because that's what springs to mind.

Your driving pattern will mean you don't notice it happening at all

Ah that's a result then. The owners manual doesn't mention this - only seems to talk about the "worst case scenario", so I've been waiting for the light to come on to tell me it's regenerating. Hopefully I'll never see the light!

BTW John the rubber mats came and they're great - well pleased. emoticon-0100-smile.gif

Bob.

It will regenerate passively on the motorway for sure, and the odd active regen wouldn't really be noticable if you are just cruising around.

The light coming on means its blocked and needs to regen, not to say its regenerating.

Second that. You have to really pay attention to notice a regen - essentially the running sound is a bit harsher, and the idle revs higher. If you happen to stop for some reason, there is also a chance of a distinct "burning" smell. Got it once in the red lights. :)
