Octy Elegance on vRS Wheels - Opinions pls.

Featured Replies

I want to know if my Octy would look stupid with a set of 17" vRS wheels and the standard suspension set up.

From the spec, there is only a difference of 15mm between the clearance of a vRS and an Elegance.

Is anyone else running 17" vRS alloys on a standard suspension??

Would you have photos?

JD

it won't look to bad but the drop will set it off nicely,

just get some 30mm springs for it,will handle a bit nicer also.

Just been looking at how my car stands on 16's with 205/55's and I think the lower profile rubber on the 17's set against the sizeable gap between the rubber and wheel arch is going to look a bit odd.

The Octy Elegance also feels slightly underdamped to me, if the tyres hit a big bump it takes a rebound before it fully settles. Would have thought 17's and lower profile rubber would make this worse.

Maybe an ideal time to get a full set of springs/dampers to go with the wheels. :)

Cheers

Lee

to be honest i cant see the 17's making that much difference to the damping (i'm no expert though).

the standard tyres on the vRS wheels are 205 50 r17 so there isnt that much difference really.

best thing to do is come along to the next track day or something and see if someone will let you try a couple of there wheels.

Very nice Dutch, very nice indeed  . Just the photos i was looking for. 15mm higher really makes no difference to the look of the wheels. ;)

I would eventually like to get a set if 17" vRS wheels, when my tyres wear a bit more.

Don't want to lower the car, did that on my last golf. It did improve the handling  , but the comfort was sacrificed :thumbdwn: . I don't think the Octavia needs lowering, and in my opinion, it handles pretty well too.

Thanks again.

P.S. Does anyone know what it would cost to pick up a set of 17" vRS rims with new or part worn tyres??

JD :)

your probably looking at around 4-500 notes for a decent set of wheels with part worn tyres.

for sale and wanted is your best bet.
