SE and HID lights

Featured Replies

What ever car you choose, HID is worth the money. I resent paying for basic stuff like that, one day, but there you are, that is how it is. Better to be resentful than rapped around a tree dead. Are you seriously considering a Yet?

Wrapped around a tree dead - What a thought for the afternoon. I know what you mean there but I have not had problems with lights on any car previously and I hope the Volvo issue just relates to them. If it was a Skoda issue I would expect to see it on this very active forum and it is not there so I am okay with that. As said before a colleague has had 3 Skoda's and he has been happy with all of them on that front.

I am looking for a 2.0D, family hatchback so I am looking at the Yeti, Octavia & Superb. I am also looking at the Seat Exeo ST as I like the look of it, it is basically a re-badged A4 with more toys which is no bad thing. I want the 140bhp CR diesel which the Octavia doesn't yet have, nor does the Superb although I am led to believe that it can't be far away for that car. I have read many arguments regarding the old PD engine v the CR one and I do not want to hijack this thread with that. I drove the old engine in a previous SEAT and I have also been in a car with the new CR one. I have made my decision there and I am quite happy with it. The Superb Estate is getting it so I may look at that although it does look mighty big. The Yeti appeals as it has this engine, I like its looks, it has had great reviews for how it drives, the fuel economy looks good and after sliding around on ice a few weeks ago the thought of having a little extra assistance is very appealing. I need to check if the boot is big enough for what I want, nothing extravagant but it has to take enough for a family of 4 when required, plus golf clubs on a regular basis. I don't like the Chelsea tractors, the bonnets & bumpers on those are unhealthily high and dangerous to other cars and pedestrians and the Yeti has the front design which eases my conscience on that front.

I'll be down to the dealers hopefully this weekend to have a look at all three Skoda models and if I can whittle them down then I will start to arrange test drives.

What ever car you choose, HID is worth the money.

I'm not sure that's true all the time, though I think on the Yeti it's not bad value at only £615 for bi-xenon, whereas it's £890 on a Tiguan and for other cars it can be nearer £1000.

I think it depends on your pattern of driving. If you do lots of night driving it's probably worth it, but if it's only occasional, then most people would rather spend the money on other extras.
