Changing Sidelights With Xenon

Featured Replies

Can somebody advice me if f'ing and blinding outside cos i cannot change the sidelights bulbs theres no space, any tips i think the xenons get in the way, is there away to take the headlight out with bumper removal??

Hi, just to get things started for you, mine hasnt got xenons but i found that long nose pliers are very usefull at just pulling them out.

Might be a fair bit tighter with your setup though??

Long nose pliers..

Either that, or it's a 15 min job to just whip the front bumper off and get the headlights out..

I'll be doing this next time...

i dont dare take the bumper off cso im scared i will break it

N/S Unplug ballast & unscrew cradle, Straighten remaining cable and rest ballast on battery carefully (If you've a battery cover take this apart first) unclip headlight rear cover and carefully rotate clockwise 90 degrees.

This will let you change the side an mainbeam, But it's still tight! the sidelight bulb holder pulls straight out long nose pliers used sympathetically will help.

Reverse the steps to get the lamp back together!

O/S The ballast is housed under the Xmember, unclip and withdraw (Watch how you go as you have to manipulate th A/C hoses to get it free. Unplug the ballast and rest it on the fuel filter, Unclip the back cover, you have a little more room on this side so persevere you'll get there!

Reverse the steps to reassemble,

You could also pop a couple of self tappers in the back cover to hold it in place!

Although I have the standard head lights I just managed to replace both dipped bulbs and front side lights without removing the battery, bumper or headlight. As people have said, the near side is tight with the battery in the way but is do-able if you take away the water tight cover on the back of the headlight. Sidelight bulbs are a right b!tch to get out though, took some number of attemps and swearing!

You don't need to take the bumper off to get the lights out. If you undo all the fixings then you can slide the bumper out enough, so that you can get the headlights out.
