Bolero AUX-IN

Featured Replies

Tried out my Aux-in jack plug socket today (in the armrest of my SE). I connected it by cable to the headphones output of a small DAB radio. I couldn't hear anything unless I turned the Bolero volume up high. This is obviously something to do with the Setup function AUX Input level .

It offers me three settings

Level 1 1,5V

Level 2 0,7V and

Level 3 0,3V

Do I just play with these settings till I find the one that works best, can I damage anything?

I had it set on Level 1 but the traffic announcements came through extremely loud !

0.3v will give you much louder sound; but find out how to adjust the Traffic announcement volume first!!

You can damage the speakers (obviously), if the sound is too loud; distortion (clipping) causes the coils in the speakers to overheat and burn out.

It looks to me as if Level 1 is the least sensitive and Level 3 the most. So it follows that Level 2 is the one to try and if it is still too quiet go to 3.

Go to the tone adjust and you will find a "Volume" button. This will give you a volume setting for the Traffic announcements as well as the start up volume.

Suggest you put the Bolero to approx 1/3 volume. Set up the DAB using each Level setting until you are happy with the loudness then set up the Traffic volume last.
