TFSI or TSI

Featured Replies

Sorry folks quick question on the petrol VRS.

TFSI engine is 200bhp. I looked on shark performance and they have TSI at 211 bhp.

I called Skoda to enquire if the engines were now running standard 211 bhp and the guy at the garage said no.

Am I missing something or is the gent incorrect? I am planning to test drive and potentially order one very soon, so want to ensure I have the latest model possible.

Any help would be great.

Cheers

Latest model is same as mine 2.0 TSI the TFSI was the older engine.

TSI in the VRS is 200bhp it's 211 in the Golf GTI

Even more annoying is that the brochure, and my dealer at least, still lists the vRS as a 2.0t FSI.

Thanks gents, I have read such good reviews for the Octy Vrs I can not wait to go and try it.

Fuel economy cant be any worse than the type R, which I have seen return around 27 mpg over 7100 miles. My drive to work is like 4 mins which doesnt helo though lol.

Im sure I have seen someones rolling road printout somewhere on here that shows that the TSI in an Octy was putting out 209Bhp, which is close enough to 211.

Perhaps Skoda are having to play down the amount of power the engine is putting out to make the VW seem better?

Eek. I'd expect about 20mpg on a daily 4min run maybe less.

I commute about 15miles each way on a 60mph 'A' road with a lot of stragglers, I get 35 if I drive nice and use Shell VPower. 32-33 on the Tesco super.

4 Minutes !?

Walk man, walk.

lol walk, I would but as an IFA I need my car to go and see clients. I had an 08 reg golf gti for two weeks while the civic was repaired and I thought that drank a lot of fuel.

I have only done 7100 miles this year though so fuel is not too much of an issue, and do not see the derv being much better. Wife has a saab 9-3 sportwagon (dont ask) 120bhp thing which we use on the weekend. My car sits on drive and doesnt move till Monday morning. She only sees 36 mpg on hers usually and on a trip to Cornwall and back I managed 46 mpg out of it and I live in brum!. I get 35 out of the Civic on a motorway trip to Tamworth!!

Might be arguing about 100 - 150 miles a tank, which given my monthly fuel costs is not enough to make me care!

I need a five door as we are planning another child (fingers crossed) and given the cost of purchasing the VRS new is not far off a 07 reg cupra (which are sooo boring inside and out) I think it is the best option.

Was thinking MPS mazda 3, however old model is currently £400 per year tax, WILL be less efficient, higher insurance and 9k servicing. New model is eu5 compliant but looks like the love child of a 206 and WRX.

Also insurance between petrol and derv is next to nothing, and as the global economy fully recovers diesel prices will rise again like they were (usually 10p dif here) so there will be no real savings to be had.

My FL hatch which I got in Sept has the TSI engine and what a peach it is too....

It is 200 Bhp the same as Scirrocco.

With a simple remap you could be looking in excess of 260Bhp!! : )
