I'll start the ball rolling......

1. Scratches, chips, marks on exterior and interior. It will be hard to claim that you didn't do them once you have driven away.

2. Check that all optional equipment / accessories have been fitted.

3. Check that the service book has been completed with a PDI stamp. Check for PDI paperwork if you are concerned.

4. Check that the tax disc is in the window.

Dont forget the locking wheel nut socket!

Since I picked up my 2.0 SE (140) today - and I've driven it 250miles (and am half way home) - here's what I did this morning...

a) all of the above mentioned checks

- Insurance - Have you got it?? - And/or are they doing the free 7 day for you - if so Delaer should have your cover note - check it for accuracy

c) Check not only is the tax disc on thw window - it's the correct tax disc!

d) make sure that have the Service book correctly in your name and address

e) check for spare wheel or gunge - depending on your choice.

Then enjoy the experience of a driving a very nice car.

And the bed time reading of the manuals!

Congrats Graham, enjoy............

Check that the registration plates have been made up correctly with the number you were provided with for insurance purposes etc. I have previously picked up a new car where the dealer had reversed some of the characters, which luckily I noticed - much to their embarrassment!

With all the speed cameras around these days may be I should have left it as it was :)
