standard ice outputs

Featured Replies

Having enjoyed the vrs for a few weeks, now its time to start changing. I assume someone has removed the standard skoda headunit from the dash and won't mind passing on the knowledge.

Has it got any plug outputs for adding additional amplifiers? how does it pull out ? will i need the code if i disturb it (reason for not touching yet)?

Does it have RCA outputs - no..

How does it pull out - I'd rather not make this too easy for all to see :D

Will I need the code - only if it's going into another car, when you put it back in your octy, it will pick up the code through a connection to the ECU.

Hope that helps..

i suppose i'll have to come up with plan 'B' ?

thanks for that

True, although it has the "pins" ready, you just have to make up a simple cable, or buy one from bluespot for about

..and it doesn't work.. we tried it!

Just because we have the pins, sadly does not mean we have the outputs...

(ok, techie answer - it *does* give something, but we blew two amps trying it! It's not a stable signal (putting it mildly) and if you want to destroy an amp, be my guest :D)

your best replacing the unit toatly with a unit that has RCA outputs already

It works fine for me. What do you mean by unstable? I'll happily stick a 'scope on it if you think it would be interesting. Maybe there's a difference in the generations? Mine's a 51 reg car.

IIRC (it was a while ago now!) the output signal varied between about -7 and +14V - it did work for a short time (about 15 minutes) and was spot on, but shortly after the left hand signal dropped. Swapped it for another amp, and it worked again...then shortly after the left hand signal dropped again.

Decided not to risk any more amps...

Was on a 2001/Y - quite possibly a dodgy head unit...
