MFD3 "LOST"

Featured Replies

Guys

This is also posted on the ICE, SECURITY & INSURANCE forum but I'm not getting much response so I thought I'd stick it on here.........

My MFD is lost - it thinks its about 10 miles further away than it actually is and when you check the GPS co-ordinates it says 0 out of 10 satellites and "no lock"

This has been working fine for about 3 months but since I fitted the bluetooth kit the other week, it appears to have stopped working! I've checked all the connections and moved the antenna but no luck. Tried rebooting and factory reset but no luck. Is there a callibrate function hidden somewhere?

I replaced the antenna yesterday and it worked fine...............for one journey then lost itself again. I refuse to believe its yet another knackered antenna.........

Any ideas guys?

Is there a wheel speed sensor aswell, which it also use's for navigation ????? just a thought.

Could you have damaged the fakra connector on the mfd3 itself when you removed the unit to fit the bluetooth. Getting 0 sattelites means that the unit is not getting any gps reception at all, the fact it worked for a bit after changing the reciever could mean a loose connection on the motherboard or possibly a dodgy connection in the fakra fitting itself.

I suppose its a possibility but one I'm loath to think about because getting it repaired would be a complete nightmare.

My next step this weekend is to unplug the BT unit just to see what if any effct that has.

Nope, thinking about it why would the antenna having a dodgy connection make the unit lose all its previous destinations and home location> I think its something a little more fundamental that a didgy connection.

A factory reset will wipe all this data, and in yout first post you mention you did one of these.

Nope - I only did a CTRL/ALT DEL to begin with. I only did a full factory rrset AFTER the latest bout of nonsense.
