Featured Replies

Hi all yeti owners have you had any false alarms or alarm problems. Mine has just gone off for the second time in 3 weeks will have to take it to the dealer if it keeps doing it

Hi wakev,

my Monster has done this once so far (fingers X) just after I first got her. Put it down to the breezy day we were having at the time.

Regards,

Hi plumber the first time it went off was mid day no wind but had parked it up about 1 hour before it went off. Tonight it has been parked up for 6 hours but the temp is dropping minus 1 or 2 wonder if they are a little to temp responsive. Hope you are enjoying your yeti up in your area you must have good places to try the four wheel drive system to the max

One repeated (went of several times) alarm since 15 Nov 09. B)

Im pretty sure the sensitivity of the alarm can be reduced (or increased) via the dealer or vcds.

Before turning off the engine try setting the aircon to recirculating mode. If this stops it you know that it must be something to do with the internal sensitivity.

I had this problem with a VW Eos and assuming its the same VAG Alarm (which it probably is) then there are three settings which the dealer can change. The default setting is the highest. Mine was reset to the least senstive level and I had no more problems. Incidentally no fault codes showed because the system thought it was being triggered correctly

Could it be thermals within the car?

If you live in an open or windy area it can often help to close the air vents to prevent unintentional alarm sounding. Also check for spiders that can dangle in front of sensors (it does happen!)

Not had the problem with my alarm - YET but I found that jet washing the X-Trail with a similar sensing system set the alarm off. I put it down to the vibrations of the windows.

Try pressing the button on the door pillar to disable the sensors on the interior of the car.

hi talked to my dealer today he said if it happens again they will scan it and if it shows no problems they will turn down the sensitivity.

Mine went off the other morning just as I was locking my front door (flat not Yeti!) - wondered if I may have pressed some panic alarm button on the key fob (front door key on the same bundle) but couldn't see mention of one (ie holding down one of the buttons) in the manual. Anyone know?

Hi i don't think you can trigger the alarm from the key fob because if you hold down the lock or unlock buttons it will open or close the windows if you have the car set to do that function (mine is a se don't know if its the same on the e or s models )

A merth?

(Said in true Inspector Clouseau accent, n'est pas?)

Well it was the only explanation I could come up with from the evidence before me.

She'd been sat quietly on the drive for well over an hour, still damp night, no cats visible (ours was in) or 'mad axemen' wondering around. Therefore I decided to have a look inside.

On opening the door low and behold I found a very very small 'merth' (not image above; copied of internet) fluttering around the roof in front of the sensors. :wonder:

New to forum so just catching up on old threads. Good to read about alarms - my Yeti's not the only one then. Alarm went off on 3 different occasions - different places, different time intervals after parking. Dealer replaced some control unit or other. Didn't solve it - it went off again. This time dealer adjusted sensitivity from max to 50%. Keeping fingers crossed. (Dealer claimed that wasn't a recognised Yeti problem).
