Replacing the standard front door speakers

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm a fresh Skoda Fabia II go+ owner.

I just installed a Kenwood KDC-BT8044UY receiver but the sound from the standard speakers is rather "flat".

I would like to replace these with a Alpine component set speakers. Has anyone experience with removing the door panels form the front doors?

I removed the 2 torx screws at the bottom of the panel but everything seems to be mounted realy tight with clips. How can i remove this without causing to much damage.

you can get a door card tool it looks like the fork end of a crowbar you put behind door card then lever clips out no damage to door buy from car spares shops

Do you need to remove the doorhandles first?

Is the panel connected with tabs or clips (the hook type) do you need to pull it away or lift it up?

those alpines would probably better off running off an amp unless they're the e type

I removed the door card this weekend, with the special tools form facom. (this realy helped me)

You need to remove the 2 small torx screws at the bottom of the card.

Then you need to split the door handle. If you look from the top side at the handle you can see a seam. Thats where the handle splits.

Its realy firmly attached so you have to pull a lot till it pops up.

Once removing the door handle cover you can unscrew 2 large torx screws.

Then you need to release the plugs holding the door card. The crowbar like plastic tools help doing this job.

There are 3 clips on both sides of the card.

After unlocking the clips lift the door card gently up. Mind the side miror control stick.

Unhook the electric window control cable and the door latch cable.

Now you can remove the door card.

The speaker is attached with 4,8mm rivets. I drilled out the rivets and noticed that there is only a maximum mounting depth of 3,8cm until hitting the window. (when lowered)

The speakers are moulded to a speaker ring. So you would need to buy an skoda fabia speaker adapter ring to fit custom speakers.

I rivetted the oem speaker back in.

Next weekend i try to remove the tweeter.

Im looking to buy an helix dark blue 62.1 set. I won't use an external amp beacause I only play music at quiet to moderate levels. I only want a warmer sound.

thanks for the info.

Those helix dark blue 62.1 speakers have a mounting depth of 6.1cm. Did you mean maximum mounting depth when you took out the door card to have a look was 3.8cm or 8cm?

The depth of 3,8 is when you measure from the hole to the window.

They are indeed 6,1cm, but when you use speaker adaptor rings you gain some extra cm's. I had confermation of a webshop in Austria that sell the speakers and rings as a kit that they fit a Fabia II.

I don't know if I can post a link to the shop here.

3,8mm + the depth of your mounting plates. How deep are they?

I want to fit speakers with an external crossover module, but i still want to use the standard cables. Does anyone know where the bigg beam with audio cables will be branched? I followed the bundeled cabels till above the passengers feet place.

sorry can't help you there as i got the dealer to fit my speakers. The cross overs are in the side of the footwell if you've looking for somewhere to put them.
