Touch up paint

Featured Replies

Hi all, first post...

Bought a 2000 Skoda Fabia last weekend, listed as tatty... Mechanically it seems sound, but one thing that made me scratch my head was this:

Firstly i've no idea how this could have happened in such a specific spot (all the other doors are fine!), and secondly i'm not sure whether it'd be possible to get some sort of touch up paint for the door as opposed to a respray. Only the paint has come off - the primer is still there...

Any suggestions?

that does look extreme for just one place. I've only ever needed small amounts and bought them from dealers

I'd say that panel has had a respray, look at the weather strap, its been distubed. I've seen quite a few posts, often related to gritters and peppering the soft paint used by bodyshops. I'd say you might be able to use some paint from paints4u with the laqure mixed in. Then have it wet sanded, but I do think a respray is the only option.

Well, the paints are £10 for a pair of colour + lacquer, which you should be able to get from the dealers. Having said that, a re-spray will probably look neater!
