Meguiars Detailing Day

Featured Replies

My better half is a member of the Civinfo forums and Meguiars ran a detailing morning over at their offices in Daventry on Saturday and I have gotta say, I learnt more about detailing in that one morning than I actually knew! Started off with coffee whilst everyone turned up then a 45 minute talk about their products along with some very interesting explanations about car care!

Then it was back to the demo area with some great lighting and a donor car (someone's Civic) to practice on - this included how to machine polish, and I gotta say, it is nowhere near as bad as you think or hear about - suffice to say that a machine polisher is now on the cards!

Meguiers have some great products and even learnt which is the best product for removing swirly from the harder paint as Skoda's have on them - busy weekend ahead :D

Not an endorsement of their products or anything, just a great day and I would happily go again - oh, and lots of free samples ;)

Yep, we did one of these back in 2006 - we were the 1st car club they had in for one of these IIRC :D

As you say, was a really informative morning and well worth doing again if we can get enough interested people and manage to get booked in with Meguiars. They also did some well priced products for us at the end

That's a dual action polisher that they demonstrated for you Rincey the rotary polisher is the scary one thats just for pro's that creates all the scare stories lol and just about all of of the Megs proffesional range is exceptional stuff and highly reccomended mate

Ahh yeah dual action - was very impressed when they showed the difference between that and hand polishing. The swirl treatment was most impressive!

I came away with more than just freebies too! hehe :D

Its always the case mate I still cant come away from a demo ,seminar or show without something new to try lol

and well worth doing again if we can get enough interested people

You offereing? :) If so count me in.

It's not the fire-breathing paint-burning monster that people would have you believe ;)

There's now more than enough information around for a relative beginner to wield a rotary safely, like this:

If a beginner does his homework, takes his time and thinks everything through, he'll be fine. Converesly, a dual-action polisher is perfectly capable of inflicting major paint damage too if you're not careful.

I know mate i have my own Detailing business but i was referring to Rinceys post about the polisher not being as scarey as he had been lead to believe but the D A aisnt scarey at all and i was refering to the fact that the rotary is the one that causes all the scare stories lol but i defy anyone to use one for the first time and not to be scared as it drags itself off across the panel :giggle: makes good viewing though !!!
