To Tint or Not to Tint

Featured Replies

Hiall,

I'm contemplating getting rear tins on my Black Fab VRS but not sure how dark to go. I've been searching to find some examples but having no luck. How dark would you recommend? Any links to examples on a black car? This is more of a security thing than anything else, my Civic had dark rear tints as standard and I had got used to launching things onto the back seat an leaving them there while doing other thinsg, gym etc. I'd rather tint the rears than be forced to break another much loved habit :)

Cheers

Alan

Give Pepe a ring on 07976 740669.

He owns Cappuccino Tints >>http://www.window-tints.co.uk/<< and as you are based in West Yorkshire he's local to you. He'll advise you on legal limits etc.... He's been in this business for years now and has done a couple of my old motors before. The finish was immaculate and well worth the money :)

I hope you weren't thinking of doing your own tinting though? It always looks horrendous. Professionally done is the way to go if at all.

To tint or not to tint,

That is the question,

Whether tis nobler,

To join a sea of ch@vs,

Or by opposing,

End them!

;) Just my opinion.

Thanks will give him a bell and get a quote, no way i'd attempt to do myself, AWFUL haha. Have got a decent quote at mo but lets see what he can do.

though still need an idea of whether it'll look sh'te or not, hmmm

cheers

I`v also got a black fabia, the key is to not go too dark so it doesnt look chavvy. I`m going for the same darkness as the SE has from factory, my mate has one, and it has the right balance between dark enough to be worth doing, and light enough to look subtle.

Thanks matt, I'll have to check out the tints on the Special Edition. From memory i'd like something a little darker thank that but like you say, go much past that and it's gonna look chavvy. Decisions decisons....

Here's mine! My Tintsemoticon-0148-yes.gif

I'd go a shade darker than the SE, if I were you - often it doesn't look like they're tinted much.

I must be a ned, i went for limo dark on my black fabia

Yeah I'm not expecting them to match it perfect, so if it's one way or the other it'll be a shade darker. The SE is fairly well tinted tho imo. At the end of the day it's your car so if ur happy it's all good!

You're opinion's one thing, but don't tar us all with the ch@v brush

I say tint

I'll be getting mine tinted quite soon...

Its next on the list after the blueflame....

I only have about 50 quid to save til that shiny badboys all mine...

Can't wait... But I digress....

When I have it done I'll be going for a light smoke all round the sides and

maybe a medium smoke on the rear.... I'll have to see how that looks first though before

I commit to it... It's just an idea at the mo... I will probably keep them all the same to avoid drawing

attention... If I'm honest, I would go much darker all round if I wasn't likely to end up getting busted

by the fuzz every 5 minutes... Hopefully if all goes to plan this year, she'll be getting the seat surgeons

treatment and I'll be going all black inside... With this in mind, the light smoke will, at least *seem*

darker from outside the car... I can't wait to get going on the interior... But thats another day...:)

I like the look of yours Mike B and agree that the SE ones are a bit too light. Insurance is already agreed with tints so might as well book in now. :)

Shark remap this weekend, tints will have to wait a couple more... B)

My old Fabia Sport was black and had the windows tinted from factory. I really liked the way it looked and am going to get my Black vRS tinted at some point too. I am just gonna go to the same level of tint that was on the sport tho.

Sounds like quite a good plan, and is similar to what I have in mind (light/medium tint on the rears).

Sorry to go off topic, but can I ask where you're getting your Blueflame from? B)

I'm getting mine done at some point. Dunno how dark tho, prob's just a wee bit darker than my mothers SE cos they are a bit light. Got a qoute the other day for £120 from diamond x window tints for the back. Does this sound like a reasonable price or will i get it done cheaper?? Bearing in mind I'm in the Highlands of Scotland.

Sounds good to me £120 is my my best quote so far with £170 been the highest :S

This time of year is the best time to get the work done, And go on personal recommendations, Rather than priceemoticon-0148-yes.gif

I paid £140 for mine nearly 3 years ago

Get it Tinted. No limo black, but about 80%, the ones which are on the SE vRS are too light.

I dont think tints are Chav, maybe if it had a huge RIPSPEED sticker on top of the tint film.
