Few things I would like your opinion on please....

Featured Replies

Right here it is,

First off I am looking at new rims to try sort out the Noises and seen as there is life left in the tyres on the car I dont want change them in the off chance so going for some rims and tyre packages is a better option.

Forgot: 8j18 - 5x100 - et 35 Fitted with 225 40 18 tyres.

Post your own choice with pics and were they can be got for under £550 or there abouts.

Next is my rear beam bushes are going/gone so I want to get them doen too.

Choices:

Std ones again and get a mechanic to fit them

or

Powerflex ones?

Are the powerflex ones easy to fit? I would be looking at doing them myself But not too sure.

SuperPRO are out as they are £30+ more than the Powerflex ones.

any info would be great. Also does anyone know if it would be worth going for Poly Bushes or just leave them std? And I would like to know if anywhere stocks the Powerflex bushes or if everywhere orders them to be made? Just conflicting things Ive read.

cheers

only the 2nd pic working mate, that looks ok tho to me but its you who has got to clean them

First pic not working, and Fox rims are ****!

As mentioned Fox wheels are not the best...

As for rear bushes i was going to have Poly bushes fitted at JKM but was advised by them to have the standard rubber ones fitted instead as they can pop out and make the ride to harsh. The new rubber one's made a dramatic difference to the drive and feel of mine, but wait for other responses to help you decide.

cheers Guys,

I have found some of my car with them on before. I really liked them but I actually like the Fox ones, just not sure on the quality lol.

As for the bushes I think SuperPRO are on the list as they seem as tho I can do them myself. so ill throw that one in.

I am gonna get a quot to do the work and one for getting std ones fitted. I dont think Ill be messin with the ride height again.

cheers

keep it coming.

keep them votes coming lol, Ill be ordering on monday so need to know which ones.

One more thing, does anyone know if the center caps on the new Mk 2 car is slightly larger than the mk 1? just the centers of the R32 rims had the black in them cos the std skoda badges were a tad too smoall.

just think they will need neatening up

Edited by billy2981

do the bushes yourself, i did mine as youve obviously seen in my guide, they are alot easier than you might expect

  • Author

Ive seen a few places say they can pop out? have you had any trouble with that yourself?

some of the pics in the guide dont work but I get the gist lol cheers,

billy

Yeah I think that the issue is with the forum, not the links, because the pics used to work.

If you copy and paste the links into the browser then they work fine.

Mine are superpro and I've had no issues whatsoever

lookin in depth at your guide lol, I will spend the extra on that SuperPro set, then the car is all the same bar the Dogbone (Powerflex was £20 cheaper lol) the extra £30 is worth saving 150+ on fitting. and I get another day on the car lol,

On the wheel front:

did some shopping around and found a site that did the Fox for £530.04 delivered and on Ebay I have a shop saved that has them on for £570 but with 215 35 18 tyres and best offer, so I pm Larkspeed and asked if they can do the 225 40 18 tyres and asked if they can beat the above lol,

I am just waiting to hear back as it wont be through ebay, Ill prob have to call up and do it via CC. I think its a good deal and they were my choice  where is the behind sofa smiley? lol for Babs

I think Ive done well lookin for a good deal, the next one up was £566.10 delivered so its a nice saving there lol

cheers for the votes.

Pics will go on when they go on the car.

Personnally I would stick with the TD's

Get the ropey one replaced and off you go, I bet they are lighter and stronger than those two.

dont know mate, I walloped one of the old R32 rims I had at cribbs causeway and there was only surface scuffs. I went round the corner and took curb too. again no cracks in it and the only thing was the edge was not nice.

these have been looked after better and done less mileage and never taken and impact. and this happens, for them to last half the time I had the R32 ones but at 2x the price lol I dont think so. Ill still keep them to as they look good but they will either be summer or winter ones depending on how much I like the new ones lol. plus they are only a tad more than just getting Toyo put on the TDs.

Have you found out what the problem is with the TD's. And what are they prepared too do about it ???

Who quoted you for the Toyos and how much ???

  • Author

TDs are still on the car as I have nothing to replace it with. Rim stock are not answering me and the shop I got them from doesnt want to know as they are over 12 month old.

I am keepin an eye on them and the crack is still not leaking air that I can tell and it doesnt seem to get bigger but then Ive only been around town really and just doen a small 1m stint on the 4232 to see what this noise was like at speeds upto the limit.

I can get 4 toyos on Ebay for 355 delivered then fitting would be 70.50 at A and A (not been anywhere else yet for fitting) or to save a few pence I can get the tyres and fitting from them at 105.36 each

I'd show Rimstock your threads on here and kick them up the arse, get them too send you a replacement, and stick with those, or you need too get it xrayed somewhere, god knows where around Cardiff though.

I'll see if i can find out for you

  • Author

cheers dave,

I did send them my thread when I didnt get a reply form them,

Oh well I wont be gettin stuff from them, seems that once Rim stock have your money they dont care lol,

I love the wheels tho and if one single turns up cheap then ill have it but if its not cheap then no loss to me.

ne probs, there is a wheel place above newport that Ive sent the pics to but they replied saying they need to see the rim really.

the other reason I gettin new rims is to see if this vibration goes away with new tyres, and if it does then I can throw the current rubber away but if new tyres doesnt solve it then Ive wasted tyres that have 5k at least left in them.

plus for motorways and that I can put them back on to scrub them off as its only at 20-30mph that the noise is there.

so ill get the use out of them lol.

Cheap though :(

(as in, nasty...)

  • Author

lol nice

there black tho, I am not one for having rims that blend in to the car, I like them to stand out.

Are fox not as well made then? as I cant seem to find an actual site for the company, just the MSW site that brings them in.

Fox, Dezent, TSW, Wolfrace... all cheap sh!t :)

  • Author

to be honest so far my experience with wheels, cheap ones are better as if they break you can afford another set.

My TD are having trouble after less than 18 month and the original tyres and cost 700+

the Replicas I got were 4/525(cant remember) and lasted 2 year or so and 2 sets of tyres on my car and I sold them on so where is the justification in spending lots on something that is sposed to be good? is it just the price tag?

if these last me 18 month Ill be happy to throw them away and get more. Ill still of saved money lol.

The saving in fuel and brake usage is nothing in comparison to what you save for the wheels.

billy

I really like the Inovit Redlines at the moment.

7x17 5x100 but ET45 because they are aimed at Subaru's really, so I recon I'd want to thow some 10mm spacers on them too. Bloody tasty wheels though.

http://www.inovit.co.uk/product/product-show.aspx?id=175

Obviously I'd get them in gunmetal grey or silver....

http://www.rimstyle.com/products/detail/?category=alloy_wheels;type=inovit_redline_gm;manufacturer=inovit;model=588;id=INREDGM17707051004545460

£339 for a set ex. tyres

  • Author

lol I like them in silver/grey.

mate at catterick had them on his Subaru and they were nice,

Dont fancy putting spacers on tho,

They are ordered now so ill post pics up when they get here on wed all being well.

also a bit of a review on the quality too lol,

cheers,

;)

"I'm looking at new rims to try and sort out the noises"!!? What sort of noises do you think wheels make? Well other than if they're too big for the car and the tyres are rubbing on inner or outer arches that is.

  • Author

tyres do make noise mate.

Ill see in 2 days all bein well, depending on the quality and compound.

I am hoping that this sorts it but if not then its back in to the mechanic and they will be sorting it out as Ive done all I can to prove its not my fault.

:wonder:
