Few things I would like your opinion on please....

Featured Replies

tyres do make noise mate.

Ill see in 2 days all bein well, depending on the quality and compound.

I am hoping that this sorts it but if not then its back in to the mechanic and they will be sorting it out as Ive done all I can to prove its not my fault.

:wonder:

It's your money, but no amount of new same size wheels and tyres will stop something too big rubbing on the arches, particularly if the back end's moving about because of worn bushes.

thats the thing

they are not catching.

I have had the car right down and there was no trouble at all, now the car is nearer std height.

there was no noise before work was carried out and now there is. they say there is nothing wrong and they blame the tyres too as there is some pretty bad spots on the inside really, but I never figured it would be that bad as like you say its only the tyres.

we shall see. Ive just had an email now saying the best they can do the fox ones for is 649. so its sounding even better lol.

Ah, if the tyres are well worn, then they can be noisier just because of that.

Yep I second that. Same thing happend to my tyres as Billys, basically due to the camber caused by rear end being lowered to much, and no adjustment to compensate. Not really down to wishbone bush in my case.

Billy why you keen on replacing the Rear bush?? have you been told they are worn or can you feel it in the handling.

Is that though because you did not have the tyres from the rear on the front prior to going to the garage. I seem to remember you swapping them over.

£649 is that right Billy

You can get TD for that price with tyres on.

Maybe you could have a chat with TD and get a discount on a new set for the troubles you have had on a new set??? Think I would be driven down that route...

Personally I am not liking the Fox's especially when you are coming from TD's. I know that your confidence is not good for TD but you could have been unlucky as never heard many issue like the one you have had.

Your choice my friend

lol, first off,

I am not going to change the rear bushes yet. I think they are on the way tho as going slow into our drive area there is a slanted step and when I revers up it there is a creaking from the rear seats. sounds like the bushes making the sound as I go up at an angle and you hear it on each side.

so I gonna wait there for a bit on that.

I am keeping the TDs as summer wheels when I get some money to sort out the paint as I am sure it is that but Ill be gettin it looked at properly, just now with having another set of wheels there is no major rush.

then its Toyo T1r on them after the stories Iv just heard from Fatty5000 on the quality lol. Summer Use only there lol.

then uses these Fox during winter and now till the TDs are fixed up.

I cant see TD giving a worthwhile discount so I am not bothered with them anymore. I am going to get them seen to properly and what ever the findings Ill be on the phone and emailing them with the results. depending on the outcome depends on what I post up everywhere or no where lol.

once the cheap crap on the fox rims is buggered (and I have a job/money) ill be getting some winter tyres on them for use in bad weather. in the long run I get a bit more out of it than just one set of rims.

As for the noise??? still unsure but I am confident now that its not going to brake up on me as Ive been to Bridgend today and came back the back way on some nice fun roads lol and gave it a good hard time and it was all fine and nothing went pop or felt loose, the brakes deff need sorting tho as I didnt feel too confident there.

Gonna get that sorted this week after the rims have arrived so I can eliminate the noises.

ps

I do like the TD's they look ace and are so light, make the car feel good but I wont be recommending them as the paint is still a part of the wheel and I dont think I should need to have them sorted after less than 18 month? and RimStock just dont seem to care so Screw them!

Now in side they say all the right things, no FOX Racing in them tho just a sticker with FX004 and the PCD and ET.

Nice skoda centers tho.

count the spokes if you have got this far and not noticed lol

Ref the bushes creaking, if it is the bushes they might well just be dry. Get some brake fluid (used is fine for this) and put a few drops on the suspect bushes.

As for the wheels, the ones you've got have a right number of spokes for a 5 bolt hub! They're not what you ordered, but I'd sooner have them.

doesnt look like you are having alot of luck really, still they look ok.

  • Author

cheers for the tip on the Bushes mate,

wheels,

I dont like them as much as the ones Ive ordered. they Hve 15 spokes unlike the ones in the pic that have 14 and if you look at them there are 5 with thick bases in the center and then 10 with narrow bits lol. have a close look, get a fat one and there is 2 thin then 1 fat and so on, then look at the one in the advert pic and they should be all the same.

not goin well!

these look similar to my TD jets. dnt laugh at the chromes they were free and soon to be painted black

There we go

Maybe they vary slightly from the picture because they are 18" and the ones in the picture are smaller or something. There's normally a disclaimer somewhere covering them for variations like that. I've seen it before with other wheels. Even though they are the same model, they can look a fair bit different in the range of sizes.

Adding an extra spoke, and strengthening the 5 spokes next to the bolts will make it a stronger wheel, so my moneys on that.

Can you find any pics of the same wheel/size anywhere to confirm?

  • Author

nope,

it doesnt sound like its even to do with the size, just the fact that the 5 stud ones are 15 spoke and the 4 studs are 14.

But there is a mahoosive diff in the look of the wheels, the ones I wanted in the pic look ace to me and these are pap!

well they are sending a courier over to collect and I gettin a refund when they get them back.

Next, I still need flamin wheels lol

That's bloody annoying for you mate!

Good that you're getting a refund though.

Back to the drawing board I guess! Hit up this website: www.rimstyle.com

Lets try again lol,

Ive now purchased the R32 replicas. All being well ill have them tomoz or friday latest. Cant wait, to get some new rubber on there.

:dull:

not very happy as I wanted the others

  • Author

OMG

ordered the R32 replicas off a shop on Ebay at 1710 yesterday and they arrived today at 1055

For £420 I cant grumble, not sure about the tyres but we shall see,

Mayrun 225 40 18, never know they might be ok

They have VW centers too and they are 60mm near as, does anyone know where I cam get some skoda ones to fit? I cant seem to find any to stick on on ebay.

  • Author

Who likes the one I got?

lol

FOX FX004 if you want some lol, no pic for them in FOX book, I cant believe that lots of people have ordered these wheels and not complained as they look nothing like what is advertised!

Shocking

Babs I should of listened, FOX = ****E! they look like something you would buy from Halfords and stick on you old Saxo to try beef it up lol. not a nice wheel

  • Author

Update,

R32 reps are on and they look stunning, brings back memories. they are heavier by quite a bit and even through town and some 40 roads the car is nowhere near as planted as it is with the TD's.

But they are mainly for winter use and just now till I get the TD's looked at and the money to get the 712's off and some Toyo T1r's on I cant Wait!

I can However Report now that it was the Tyres making the Drone / Noise! It feels like I am driving a new car as far as noise is concerned. I would never of believed that tyres could make that much noise inside the car! It was that loud I couldnt even listen to music going through town at 30mph the noise/Vibration/Drone was that bad. now there is just a slight bit of road noise mainly coz they are 18" but my lord are they quiet lol

Dont even think Ill put the 712's back on to rub them off as they are that hard they wont die lol, there is pos 10k left on them, there is lots of tread on them just round the inside on the ones from the rear is worn unevenly from having the car too low.

cheers

billy
