Retrofited cruise control

Featured Replies

Have fitted cruise control to my Octavia II today but it doesn't work! (I have by the way coded it with VAG-COM)

In the instructions received with the stalk it said (if I understood the very poor English correctly) that in Octavia's manufactured post 05/2005 the wiring for the cruise control was already in place and its not necessary to install the wire that came with the stalk - is this correct? Initially the steering wheel error came up and said 'incorrectly coded module' but this has now gone since coded correctly with VAG-COM

Any help much appreciated as I spent a lot of the day with this project and gutted its not working!

Thanks

Edit: Have just had another look and I keep getting a fault on the steering module: "01044 Control Module Incorrectly coded 000 _ _" which comes back whenever I clear the fault codes.

Have fixed this now - the cruise control has decided to start working!

The only problem now is the right stalk no longer cycles through MPG, Avg Speed etc. For reference if anybody else gets this problem in the future a document on this forum called 'VAG COM Octy II' states the following when using VAG-COM:

Activate cruise control

16 – Steering wheel

07 – Recode

00xx?x

? =

0 = no CC or maxidot

1 = no CC with Maxidot

2 = with CC, no maxidot

4 = With CC and maxidot

I believe that instead of maxidot it should read 'multi function computer' (or whatever its called in Skoda speak!) Hopefully when I recode this, it will get rid of the steering module fault. I'll post again to confirm this.

coding should be 4 for CC and trip computer
