XDS and Rolling Roads

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum, so please forgive me if I’m posting in the wrong place.

Last weekend I took my facelift Octy vRS CR to Chip Wizards near Oldham for a power run on their dyno / rolling road.

Unfortunately, Wayne (The owner) was unable to get a decent run in because of what we suspect was interference from the ESP / XDS.

I went there with a friend of mine who has a Mk5 Golf GTi with what I'm told is the same ESP only his does not have XDS.

Does anyone know how to turn it off for a power run? or is there a dyno mode that can be selected?

The day was a Club GTi organised event so was lots of fun, but I was disappointed that my car could not take part. There was another face lifted Octy vRS CR estate who also had the same problem.

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Pete :)

If your car has a switch to enable you turn off the ESP, then you do not have XDS.

If there is a switch to turn off TCS then it is likely the car has XDS.

When was it built? XDS was introduced IIRC on new builds from early November

On the the dyno did you try turning off ESP or TCS

Hi, thanks for responding.

I got my car on 14th December 09

The switch on the dash has no letters but looks like a car with bent lines under it!

Wayne at CW tried the switch but neither seemed to make a difference, the light was flashing on the dashboard, I assume that means it's off, or at least ratcheted back somewhat

Cheers

I have a MK6 GTI with XDS and have had no problems with Rolling rds. The button you describe sounds like the ESP button that should show up on the speedo area when turned off (if like most VAG) you should have no probs with the ESP off?

Thanks for the info guys, maybe i'll take it back to CW for another go on the rollers!

Cheers, Pete
