2.0tdi short shifter - anybody got one? reviews?

Featured Replies

interested in this mod, my mate can get me one for £50 i heard there alot cheaper but anyhow....

i heard mixed opinions on this does anybody have one, how easy are they to fix onto car?

i have 6 gears so just i go into audi and ask for a tt short shifter for a 6 speed?

The TT one is meant to be ok, but it's not such a big throw reduction as a Forge or Neuspeed.

I've got the Neuspeed and I couldn't do without it. I've driven a couple of other peoples vRS TDIs without it since and it was horrible - like driving a van.

no body seems to do nothin with out wanting to make a quick £££....

ill check out the other sites, ill ask damo to see if he fitted one to. just incase there already is one and i never noticed.

Do a search. This has been covered before. There are two VAG mods, the shifter from the Audi TT and the VW Golf R32 (same reduction in throw). Aftermarket products are available from Forge and Nuspeed, the latter being the shorterst throw, but the most expensive. Forge also make a mod to shorten the left/right throw as well as fore/aft.

yeh i read that on forge site just a min ago, but it takes it all to a next level, im after a cheap mod, i know you get what you pay for.

i think £28 is a good price, im guessin the r32 & TT will be almost identical. ill order the TT one now everybody i know who has got one, hes never complained.

then once i get this ill be scratching me head how to fit it.

Like I said before - do a search. The part number for the R32 shifter is on here.

My son in law works for VW, he recently fitted a TT one to his SEAT, he said it would fit my 6 speed VRS. Its supposed to be a bit if a pig of a job, even for a fully qualified VW technician!

Its on my wish list..

Just had a look around on the search, and found this..

...8J0 711 051 B for collection tomorrow, except that the part has been modified/upgraded and is now 8J0 711 046-B

I've also read somewhere that Skoda changed something in 2006 though? Is this true?

I'm very interested in getting one of these anyway, if someone can confirm that part number will fit my 56-plate TFSI vRS, I'll be straight over the road to TPS and order one... (I'm so lucky to work nearby :))

The 046-B should fit an 2006-on TFSI (assuming the car was built in 2006 and not just registered in 2006!).

I fitted this part to my '58 plate TFSI and it makes a worthwhile improvement. It only takes 15 minutes to fit - dead easy.

It's honestly not that difficult. The hardest part is removing the air filter and trunking to get access.

He had the neuspeed one - the same as Wega3k. It was well over £100 new though.

Whats the difference then on pre-06 Octavia IIs?

I'm not sure on the build date of mine, or how I'd find out...
