is software code 00005 correct

Featured Replies

Hi

Need help ! I have a Soka Fabia 1.9 sdi 2001 my car has "NO ABS", airbag and AC. It is not automatic, it is a manual. My Air Con is not working had it re-gassed and was told the compressor is not working. was going to replace the compressor, then read on a skoda forum that someone had the same problem and He then took it to a very bright spark he knew and he confirmed that fault code 18020 was held in the PCM (Powertrain control module) which in turn indicated it had an incorrect code stored. He was able to look up the correct code and bingo, the aircon worked. He had Software Code 00095 and had it changed to 00071. I was wondering if anyone would know if i have the incorrect code stored ? my vagcom reading is as follows :

Monday, 26 January 2009, 17:47:50

VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-S

Control Module Part Number: 038 906 012 CE

Component and/or Version: 1,9l R4 EDC 0000SG 3206

Software Coding: 00005

Work Shop Code: WSC 13765

Additional Info: TMBPF SKZ7Z

No fault code found.

Is Software Coding:00005 Correct ? i suspect from what i have read that it should be 00061

Could someone be able to tell me if the code is correct ? and if not what should it be ? and how to change it ?

Thanks.

VIN & Immobiliser numbers removed

ECU coding as follows:

00061 petrol engine and air con

00071 petrol engine ABS and air con

00005 diesel engine and air con

00006 diesel engine air con and ABS

That appears to be correct for your car. Have you checked address 08 for faults?, the evaporator outlet air temperature sensor is a common failing on the Fabia. I don't think that the air conditioning will work when the ambient temperature drops below 4 degrees C, so as to prevent the condensed moisture from freezing.

Thanks Fordfan this information is very helpful. Do you know of any "How to guide" for locating and replacing the evaporator outlet air temperature sensor.

You were right Fordfan i checked address 08 which has the following fault :

Version: Release 409.1-S

Control Module Part Number: 6Y0 820 045

Component and/or Version:

Klimaanlage X0760

Software Coding:

Work Shop Code:

1 Fault Found:

00818 - Sensor for Evaporator Outlet Temperature (G263) 30-00 - Open or Short to B+

would this fault show if the ambient temperature was below 4 degrees C?

That'll be the fault. The sensor is around £15 to £20, the bad news is that officially it's a dash board out job to replace, so if you went to a dealer it would cost a lot in labour. The accepted way of replacing it without removing the entire dash is to remove the right hand section where the light switch is, remove the convenience control unit next to the clutch pedal and you will find it in the back of the heater box next to the clutch pedal. There was a guide, but it may have gone missing during the recent site changes.

Thanks again ! just one more thing can you point me in the direction of any suppliers from whom i can buy the senor from ?

6Q0907543A or whatever part number that it has superceded to is what you want. If I was after one, I would try a Skoda dealer first. Confirm that the part number above is correct for the sensor that you want with when you order.
