24 hr test drive

Featured Replies

Got a letter from Skoda Uk yesterday to say that they had arranged for my 24hr test drive in an Octy 2. There was an insurance form which I have to take along to the dealer when I go to collect the car. I will write up a report of what I like / don't like when it is all over.

Well the named dealer (not I have to say the most convenient for me) contacted me today. The 24 hr test drive is arranged for Thursday coming (18th). The car is a Octy Ambient 105bhp 1.9 TDi. Pity it wasn't an elegance 2l FSI, but still I get to play in a free car for a day :).

Same as i had William, but mine was an extremely dirty sort of blue, well i think it was blue  . Just looked like it had just come off a welsh forest rally stage  . Not the best advert for skoda.

I would have liked to feel the 150 bhp 2.0L petrol engine to see how it felt compared with the 180 bhp 1.8T. I suspect I will find the 105bhp deisel sluggish compared with the vRS. More interested to see how it compares with my wifes out going 1.6 (75bhp petrol).

I got a call on Wednesday night asking if I wanted to take out a car the following day. The nice man from Bickertons (Melvin) asked what I wanted from a list of diesels ( :( )and I plumped for the 2.0 TDi PD Ambiente. The car was spotless and I was on their insurance.

I didn't need the 24 hours so had it from 8.30 am until about 2 pm. Is was very impressed and the car went like stink.

Some stats (a run around town, from Sheffield to Rugby and back on the M1 doing about 85/90, a run around town again)

Total driving time = 3h 34 mins

Average speed = 50 mph

Total mileage = 179

Average mpg = 49.8
