Well, there are a few options - most of the stuff used for tuning the 2.0 Golf GTi should work, so chip-tuning, induction, exhaust, cams, etc. are all pretty feasible, and someone probably does a turbo conversion.

However, it will be expensive, so the vRS is probably a better option!
