"Space saver" spare wheel for FL vRS

Featured Replies

Ahh ... so I never thought to order a spare wheel at the factory (just assumed it came with one )

But ordered one as soon as I picked up the car, and collected it today. Just in case anyone else is in the same position I was in, here are the details (I've got a 2010 Octavia FL vRS hatch):

Dealer has supplied a "kit" of a 16" black steel rim fitted with a proper 205/55 R16 Contisport 2 tyre. So it's a fairly big beastie, and hardly a skinny "space-saver" like on some cars. The two-part "spare wheel kit" also comes with a jack, wheelnut spanner and various bits, including a clamp and strap to lock the spare down into the recess in the boot floor. It's quite a snug fit too.

Part numbers are (I think:)

S1Z0601011A (wheel & tyre)

S1Z0071108A (jack and toolkit)

Price came to about double that of a factory-fit spare (eek!)

Well, on the "plus" side, I've now got a "lovely" bottle of that horrible puncture-repair foam goop that I don't want ... wonder if it will sell on Ebay ...

Yep, thats the standard size spare we all used to get before the words 'spare' and 'wheel' became dirty :giggle:

Better than the comedy unicyle wheel some cars get as a spare.

You got a good deal if it was only twice the price of a factory fitted wheel. I was quoted various prices by Skoda dealers for supplying a "kit". The most expensive was £202.

Don't you also need the special bolt that holds the wheel and stops it moving around the well?

Part no: S1K0803899D £5
