I realise the question has been asked many times in many places, but -

should my 59 reg Octavia Elegance (brand new as of last december) have the DRL function ?

how is it turned on via the indicator stalk ? following the instructions in the manual does nothing but turn main beam and indicate right for as long as you keep the stalk pressed - is there something else, do you have to cross your fingers or wait for a black cat to cross your path, or am I trying to turn on something I ain't got ?

yours in desperation, hoping to meet the man who wrote the manual down a dark alley one night....

p.s. - if someone has posted the definitive answer, I'd appreciate a pointer and suggest it be made a sticky somewhere, but it didn't come up when I did a search

Follow the manual instructions exactly, pull do not press the stalk-

Deactivate function daylight driving lights

– Pull the turn signal light lever towards the steering wheel up to 3 seconds after switching on the ignition and at the same time, slide it to the bottom and hold it in this position for at least 3 seconds.

Activate function daylight driving lights

– Pull the turn signal light lever towards the steering wheel up to 3 seconds after switching on the ignition and at the same time, slide it to the top and hold it in this position for at least 3 seconds.

BUT that only works if DRL are set up in the first place.

If not, first you need to get the DRL option selected and this means a trip to the dealer. Various options and set ups are available.

I chose DRL plus rear lights to come on automatically.

Do you have maxidot? I can turn the DRL on my vRS on and off via the setup menu in that...
