Shark Performance Stage 1 Remap

Featured Replies

Hello,

Well its finally on....and what a difference it makes! From being a fairly quick car, it is now a certified missle! The process was very easy and Ben is a top bloke and knows his stuff about cars! I arrived at 9am and the work commenced. The process was a bit quicker, as Ben had already read my ecu last week and prepared the new map. I decided to opt for the STS, purely so I could take the map off for warranty work and read my own fault codes. The writing the file to the ecu took some time but thats VWs fault. The map file is so big for these cars, it takes time to write to the ecu. Well 2 cups of tea later and lots of car talk, it was ready. Ben took the car out, with me in the passenger seat to complete the final adaption. Then....my turn :) As soon as I drove away I could feel the immediate improvement in the engine. You need less throttle input to make it go! The first time I planted thr throttle I was amazed! The power delivery is exactly like the original map...but there is a lot more of it! The power holds on right up to the red line and even then there is no sign of the power dropping off. It just pulls and pulls and keeps going!

I have owned a rolling road proven 281bhp Focus RS. That was quick, but I had to keep it in the high revs to keep the power on. My car is quicker than my Focus ever was, mainly down to how the power is put the road. The power is so useable and comes in from just over 1500rpm. I am not bothered about chasing peak horse power figures. Its good pub talk to say I have 300bhp etc.....when in real world terms. dependant on how the car is setup and how the power is delivered in the rev range. A car with less power and more usable power will be quicker on the road. This car is a weapon now! Its so fast and only very slightly slower than Bens car. Even Ben made that comment too!

Anyone thinking of getting there car remapped by Ben. Dont think.....just do! lol The transformation of the car is unreal. The in gear acceleration is amazing. The car will pull from 60 mph to a hundred in 6th gear, quicker than it used to in 5th! It really has to be tried to be believed. Plus I saw an extra 2mpg heading home!

I live in the Nottinghamshire area and if anyone wants to see what the stage 1 map is like. Id be more than happy to take people out. I will be getting my car on the rolling road when I get the EIbachs fitted. To date, no one hs done this yet on a stage 1 and I will post up the graph is 2 weeks time once its done.

Cheers Matt

Cost?

I've got a Shark STS waiting to go on my TSi vRS. The car was built last week, so hopefully I'll get it early March. I really can't wait now!!!
