New Battery required

Featured Replies

Hi Chaps

I have a 2005 Octavia Elegance Estate 2.0 TDI PD 140 which needs a new battery fairly soon. I was told some time ago that on cars fitted with Climatronic A/C systems. a 12v supply had to be maintained during the whole changeover between the new battery and the old. I was given to understand if this wasn't done, the Climatronic would require a complete reset at a dealer. Does this still hold true with the newer systems, and particularly with my car?

Thanks in anticipation of any replies.

Hi Brian

Sorry I cannot answer the question, but if you need to exchange the battery without loosing any settings is easy !

get a set of jump leads, and a friend in another car or a spare 12 volt battery, First undo the nuts on the battery clamps, attach the jump leads on your battery clamps

connect the other end of the leads to the spare battery,(Make sure the wires don't touch the metalwork,) lift the connectors off the battery terminals and lift out the old battery,

fit the new one in, put the connectors back onto the new battery, remove the jump leads and tighten the nuts on the clamps, and job done !

And no loss of settings

I've had the battery out of our climatronic equipped vRS for almost 24 hours and everything was fine when it was put back in.

Same with my L&K - battery taken out and put back in and all it wanted was the security PIN for the Columbus unit.
