Niggles - Clutch pedal vibration / Open door warning light

Featured Replies

I'm determined that I'm going to properly sort my recently bought VRS.....

After sorting the central locking, blown engine breather, temperature sender, wiper solenoid and TB decoke, I've got a few issues remaining.

The first is that you can feel the vibration of the engine through the clutch peddle which annoys my wife ;) , but doesn't bother me too much.

The second is that the 'door open' warning light on the dash comes on as soon as you use the central locking (to open) . It stays on, even when driving, till you use the central locking to lock everything again. I'm guessing that its something to do with the tailgate lock???? - but I don't know. I'm sure that its not the unit in the drivers door as I've fixed that.

Any ideas?

PS. I don't know if its common knowledge, but you can fix the central locking control module in the drivers door even when the pins have completely corroded and fallen off. I've done it for both the VRS and my Elegance estate and its cost me pennies each time - requiring some light guage wire, solder and a bit of time. Is it worth posting some instructions? or is this old hat?

Bump.

No one?

av you checked if theres any play in the peddle or if the engine stablizer mount near the bottom of the bulk head is worn? as this can make the vibrations..

hope this helps

sorry more a question than reply but does the door unit you refer to inlude the headlights on warning buzzer/door open system, i expected to find external evidnece of a switch but not so it seems, how is this activated? mine only comes on when door slightly open, then goes off, hence lots of lights left on moments.....

With the clutch pedal, the vibrations must be coming through the body. As the pedal mechanism is bolted to the bulkhead, and the only other thing that connects to it is the hydraulic pipe from the pedal master cylinder to the clutch slave cylinder, and the rubber hose to the reservoir. So as said, all you can do really is check the engine mounts, specifically the dogbone. I can't think of much else to cause it. Anyway, how do you ever feel the vibrations? Does your better half hold her foot down on the clutch at lights and traffic or something? Just tell her not to! It's not the best for the clutch cover plate or release bearing.

The door open thing sounds like the microswitch on the drivers door lock mechanism to me. I have a similar problem with mine, but mine just doesn't sense that the drivers door is open most of the time, so the opposite of your issue.

I would suggest maybe the microswitch in the lock on a door. Do the lights mounted on the door trim come on when the door is opened? Does the red LED in the door flash when the car is locked?

Given the cost of a proper fix, I am sure some guidance would not go amiss for this.
