Fabia 1.9sdi engine problem

Featured Replies

Anyone had their engine judder at approx 1000-1200rpm fault clears above or below that rev range. You notice it if you are creeping forward in traffic. Any known faults?

Thanks.

Is it a single 'jolt' like a misfire or a continuous 'shiver'? And does it always happen at those revs, or just occasionally? It could be a few things, TBH, but not necessarily a fault...

Thanks for the reply it is a continuous shiver at exactly those revs and happens all the time.

Flywheel should be OK with an SDI (no offence!), so maybe something up with the engine mounts?

Anti Stall? Are you moving away on tickover or with revs?

If the engine is idleing you get this judder once you built the revs to 1000-1200 above or below rev range everything ok you get the impression engine is misfiring.

Could well be something like a fuelling issue or a faulty sensor giving a spurious reading - I think a fault code scan may be in order...

hello i have the same problem with my skoda i find the solution with adjusting basic quantity of the fuel it was 1.6 mg/stroke and i increase it at 4.5 mg but i am not sure which is correct value becuse now i have bad dynamic and high consumption if you understand or someone knows please write to solve my problem.best regards from bulgaria

Resurrecting an old thread as I have the same issue - most noticeable in traffic queues, once the clutch is fully engaged the engine judders until revs rise above 1250 rpm. Not talking about a lot of accelerator, just trying to trickle along. Does the sdi have an anti-judder device or is that the tdi ? recently changed the temp sender so I don't think its that.

Possibly egr related. It's the first thing I would remove/blank anyway.

Otherwise it could be timing related or lots of other things really

I know this is an old thread, but just wondered if you resolved the problem you had.  I have what sounds like exactly the same issue and can't find much info about it and then came across this thread. Many thanks

Sorry, gearbox died and I wrote off the car.

Mine had a new cambelt fitted professionally about a year before so I would argue against a timing issue. I think it is something to do with the egr letting air into the inlet tract in an unintended way so was thinking of removing/blanking or cleaning mine though it was hardly a major problem.

Thanks for replying, I'll look at the egr and maybe blank it off to test. Otherwise it's a brilliant car I hope I can get it sorted.

Many thanks

Just as an update to this for anyone who has an sdi with this problem (assuming any sdi Fabias are still running). I disconnected and blanked off the vacuum pipe to the egr valve activation solenoid, but left it electrically connected so it didn't upset the ecu. So now, in theory,  the egr would not open.  This has completely stopped the judder that I got at around 1000 to 1250 rpm and the car feels much smoother and quieter (that may be just wishful thinking though). Now this may have been the wrong thing to do, but it has for the moment got rid of the problem. If anyone can explain the reasoning behind this I would be grateful.

did you find a solution to the problem at 1200 rpm

I did fit a replacement egr control valve (the part fitted to the bulkhead) and it improved a the car, but in all honesty it is still smoother with that disconnected. I still have the car on 187000 miles and is still brilliant, slow but brilliant.

no solution
I changed the head of the pump and the car became more agile
but the problem remained
