Fiscon bluetooth

Featured Replies

Had my FISCON bluetooth fitted today by RICHTER SPORT in Milton Keynes.

Very please with both the unit and the service from Richter. These guys were very professional - email confirmation of the booking, tel call the night before to re-confirm details, fitted in 40 minutes, full demo of how it works and paired up both my handsets before I left. 10 out of 10 :)

The system is really very good - only thing visible is the tiny mic up on the A pillar, no visible wiring, all hidden in the trim.

Only used it for one call so far but quality seems fine and really easy to use on the bolero screen.

Biggest plus for me vs the parrot 3200 i had in my previous gti is that there are 6 'favorites' that you can programme - so ringing home / wife etc is only a case of pressing the "phone" button on the bolero then stab the touch screen in the appropriate place.. with the parrot i'd have to scroll through a whole bunch of names to get to my wife, then scroll through all the numbers she has to get the one i wanted.. it was such a hassle in fact (and dangerous, with that tiny little screen) that I'd find it easier to get the phone handset and use the fast dial on that which I know is slighly illegal.

Only thing i don't like so far with the fiscon is the phone book - it seems to only show the surname which is a little unhelpful (i mean, my brother, his wife, my wife, my dad, my mum etc all have the same surname - d'oh!).. maybe there's a set up /config I can do to change this - anyone know? Not really a major issue - I rarely ring anyone who's not one one of my "favorites" from the car - and if i needed to i'd pull over anyway.

Cost: 350 + vat. fitted.

Sounds good! Does (or would if you don't have it fitted) this also integrate with Maxidot and/or the MFSW?

Cheers

From what I've read, yes it will integrate with the MFSW and maxidot. I believe some vagcom (or VCDS whatever its called now) setting is required. I don't have a MFSW. Mine is only working via the bolero but TBH thats all i need.

Yes it does integrate with the MFSW, but to be honest, I tend use the Bolero rather than scrolling through the list on Maxidot... Although an incoming call shows who is calling on Maxidot as well as the Bolero screen

My address book is sorted by first name on the phone so when I start typing I get first names, but then when you've started narrowing things down, you can hit a button (on the right of the screen IIRC) to show a list of all the partial matches...

I would check, but my car is in a car park about 100 miles away at the moment...

That's a good point - my blackberry address book was sorted on surname. I've now changed that to "first name" sorting - will see what effect that has on the fiscon / bolero display.. :wonder:

Have been doing some research!

Does anywhere in the north-east sell and/or install these (and do a decent job of it!)?

You can buy the Basic Plus unit direct from www.fiscon.co.uk for £316.56 delivered (using the discount code scirocco123 *ahem* :giggle: ), but I don't trust my powers of installation!

when does that voucher code run out

These guys are in Leeds OK so my geography sucks. http://www.oemretrofits.co.uk/

RICHTER SPORT fitted mine too - great service, same price £350 + VAT and v happy with how it works with the Blackberry. Well worth the investment if you are planning to keep the car for a few years. The FISCON unit is fully updatable too with new phones so useful if you change your phone and should be an attractive addition when selling the car on.

Pics?

I'm not sure, came across it in a Scirocco forum whilst googling Fiscon...it was valid in August last year, so has been at least 6 months...

That should solve the problem. My iPhobe is first name / surname and that is the way it shows on the Fiscon/Bolero. It also shows icons for home, mobile, office etec where you have multiple numbers for the same name.

The one thing I don't like about the Fiscon is the SOS button. Can't tell you how many times I've accidentally hit that one.

Most pro installers dont use the A-pillar for the mic, get more road noise from that area. They do howerver use the A-pillar cos its easier to get to, rather than potentially dropping the front of the headlining and interior lights to get it mounted in the center where the OEM location is.

When fitting the Fiscon unit is recoding required to integrate with Bolero & maxidot?

Think it depends on when the car was built... Mine needed the coding doing, but the guy said he'd done an older car the week before where it didn't need coding, it just worked

Digging this up, does anybody have any current experience of this? Thinking about getting it added once I get my car, seems to give the OEM experience for a Bolero unit.

I know I'll be without the MFSW but that doesn't really bother me as will be able to use Maxidot/touchscreen.

I have the Fiscon basic plus unit, great piece of kit, you can use the toggle switch on the wiper stalk to control it, make/receive calls and all the other functions on the maxidot, I'd definitely recommend it.

i've got a fiscon plus in my blackline and to be honest it's ok from an integration point of view, it looks a little cheap flashing up Kufatec when you go into the phone option on Maxidot but from a bluetooth point of view its ok. My big disappointment is the bluetooth audio it's tinny and cheap sounding, unlike my mates 320 and the ford focus hire car i have at the moment for work.

Will be contacting Richter sport to see if it's an issue with my unit, but I suspect not :( Anyone else have any feedback on this?

As such i'm going to explore the factory BT option on my Blackline and see what that;'s like.

The audio is perfect on mine, no complaints whatsoever,

I think the extra display with the E-MFA (digital speed, rpm, temps etc) is even more appealing than other kits available.....

I assume the E-MFA stuff is on maxidot only?

wow - a thread i started more than 2 yrs ago!

still love my fiscon - I've got a new vRS on order and I will be fitting a fiscon on that one too.

Although it works both through bolero and maxidot, tbh I only ever use the bolero display. Can't comment on music streaming as i never do that (big capacity ipod permanently attached to my mdi in the glovebox so no need).

+1 on the phone features, the Fiscon integrates brilliantly.

However music streaming is pants! front speakers only (on my colombus). I just use the SD card / HDD so never bothered me. :)

Without wishing to throw a spanner in the works - what is wrong with the genuine VW kits? They are cheaper and a doddle to fit - any monkey can do this in under a couple of hours.....

They integrate with Maxidot properly and also with Columbus / Bolero. Seems a bit odd to add a third-party unit that costs more!

Digital speedo I hear you shout - this is available on FL anyway so the additonal cost for some questionable data features seems a bit weird to me!

I'm looking into official VW ones too. Anyone know of a reputable place to get hold of one? I'm going to speak with my stealer when they call about my car next on what options they offe dealer fit
