Stinking clutch

Featured Replies

had a jabba remap a while back and upgraded cluch and all is well, its just that if for some reason i have to hold it on the clutch for a few seconds it smells really bad. just had to put car on the ramps to change my oil and the smell was terible. surly my cluch shouldnt smell like that? especially with it being an upgraded one to handle all the torque?

Just the clutch over heating, nothing to worry about, but the less time you do this the better,as they can glaze badly.

why would it over heat so easily? and why does standerd clutches not do this?

Can't say why it smells, but I never hold on the clutch for any reason even if its for a few seconds. Its either engaged or not, never partially (unless you're being pedantic then it is when pulling away ;) ).

Indeed. If it smells in normal driving, you're slipping it too much. Aim to have the clutch engaged or disengaged completely nearly all the time and it will last longer. Especially avoid high revs and clutch slip.
