noisy rear wiper on estate

Featured Replies

The rear wiper on my octavia estate makes quite a load and distracting noise when it wipes - any way of reducing the noise, or reducing the frequency it wipes with ?

Do you mean the noise of the motor, or the horrible noise the wiper makes if it judders across the screen? I tried a new blade but mine still does that :-(

I find a larger blade quieter than the original...

Try wiping the blade edge with neat concentrated screen wash. This also helps the wiper work better.

:) It may have many uses, but I wouldn't rush to spray it on windows

i have a clunk on my front windows... on the drivers side when i reaches the very top point of its wipe just on the way back down CLUNK! not every time tho..

ideas on that one ??

Joel

blade "folding over" and "folding back" when it changes direction?

Ditch the original blade. You'll notice this judder effect far more now it's cold because the rubber isn't as pliable at low temp. In my experience a qood quality aftermarket (like Bosch) replacement will overcome this problem with instance effect.

The current blade is about the max the window will take !

cleaned the blade & rear screen with neat screenwash - the only difference is i now have a very clean screen !

Sounds like the blade is no longer flexible enough and needs replacing. Wiping with screen wash helps keep the rubber in good condition so it's worth doing when you replace the blade to help it last longer.

mine was replaced when the car was serviced on friday and its been quiet since then
