Folding Mirrors

Featured Replies

I have the electric folding mirrors with the memory function. I can fold the mirrors in via the knob on the door but would like them to fold in via the keyfob if possible. The manual is not very clear and only alludes to this.

Page 74

Note

  • If the exterior mirrors are folded in using the remote control* of the vehicle key, these are folded back into the driving position after switching on the ignition.
  • If the exterior mirrors are folded in using the rotary knob (page 73, fig. 72) they can only be folded back into the driving position using the rotary knob.

Also, what is the "Lowerable exterior mirror". I have this in the maxidot with a tick box to activate but it does not do anything. Again page 73 of the manual says to press the "UNLOCK" button on the keyfob for approx. 2 seconds.

Thanks for any help recieved.

If you press the lock button and hold it down the mirrors will go in, atleast it does on my uncles L&K

I second that, works on my 59' Elegance

The manual isn't worth the paper it's printed on

I think this is the nearside mirror function, that should lower, when the car is put into reverse.

Just tried it. (I had tried this before). Nothing. Waited for about 15 seconds.

Does the rotary knob need to be in a particular position. The reversing mirror needs the knob in the L position, not as the manual says the R position as I have found out.

Thanks.

your keeping your finger pressed down and not lifting it by mistake.............only reason I say this is my aunt had a few failed attempts to do this. I'm sure the dealer did not say it had to be in a set position to work.

Tried again with the knob in different positions!!!!

The keyfob button is definatley being pressed. The red light is flashing. Am seeing the dealer again tomorrow so I will ask them.

Thanks again.

This is the same on the mother in laws golf - the windows go up and down with the remote but not the mirrors. Its also a bit hit and miss on the actually knob! Hoping that it is just an issue for VCDS?!

I think it depends on the convenience unit fitted. My 2006 Leon doesn't do it, and the coding option isn't there, later ones do it or can be coded.

Just hold the lock button in on the key fob to fold my FL Elegance mirrors.

The tilting mirror for reverse I believe is only with electric memory seats.

Was booked into the dealers today who "activated the folding mirrors".

When I got home I noticed that the maxidot had been reset to the factory settings. So I turned off the opening/closing of the windows via the key fob. Then the mirrors would not fold in when locking. Activated the opening/closing of the windows via the key fob and the mirrors fold in when locking.

Obviously this setting is linked.

Well anyway now I know and whilst at the dealers I did get them to activate the cornering lamps adjacent to the fog lamps.
