Picking up new VRS tomorrow

Featured Replies

Just wanted to get peoples views on picking up a new VRS

should i be looking out for particular things etc?

ive never picked up a new car before so quite excited dont want to get too carried away!!

any help is good help!

Ahh all these lucky people who get to collect there cars already. No fair! I'll be looking for 3 things really when i go to collect mine:

Say thanks to salesman & sales manager. Get my keys, both sets. As part of that i'll get my paper work and hopefully they'll go through it but if they just hand me a folder i'll go through it while they're there and ask anything i need to know.

Get introduced to the service manager (if i'm not automatically introduced, i'll come up with a plausible sounding request like "can i buy some top up oil"). I'll take down a tin of quality streets for the staff in a bag so i'll give it to them then when sales & service are both there. Less than a fiver but never fails to work (unless it's an Arnold Clark Vauxhall dealer, never again!) :giggle:

Then i'll go out myself to open the car & make sure the PDI's been completed. There's not really many complaints on this forum about this but past experience with other brands tells me this is a good idea  So go through each item on the PDI sheet yourself (they will give you a copy as part of your documentation) and just check through it. Look over your paint work, doesn't need any more than a look at each panel. Pop the bonnet, check each fluid (oil dipstick, screenwash, coolant, P/S reservoir if it's easy to open, if not just leave it to check at home). Check the lights, adjust the seat to suit. Fiddle with any controls. Head off home, shift the current driveway queen down the pecking order and put the new pride & joy at the top table

im going to pick mine up from london (i live in manchester!) so i guess i need to make sure everything is tip top before i drive away. and i wont need to speak to them about servicing cos ill get that done up here!

haha yeah ive got me old car that needs shifting until the lease people come and pick it up.

feel like a kid on christmas eve!

marlborough in isleworth

ordered on DtD as none of the dealers anywhere near me could get within a grand of their price, they didnt seem bothered!

I'd like to know how you get on at Marlborough. I'll be picking mine's up from them some time next month.

Can't wait for the drive back to Leeds.

Good luck!

Look forward to hearing your first review of the car from your long drive back up North. Sure you will love it.

Yeah can't wait for the drive home!! Just a bit upset I need to take it easy!!!

Will give my impression soon as! Its my first skoda and I'm comparing it to a 1.9 tdi golf so should be impressive!

Remember and run the engine in properly though, once it's warm get the revs up past 3500 every so often with delayed gear changes etc. Ensures top fuel economy later in life and helps avoid creating an oil drinker

have a scan through this thread..page 3 mentions some settings on the blackberry (its from the superb II area but its the same head unit in both cars) but it certainly looks as if people have the Bold working

Well I'm home now and I have to say I'm very impressed

All I can comment on as yet is motorway driving and it was a breeze. Nice and comfy effortless to drive no thought required (I have the DSG) and overtaking is a dream!

Will post some pics and a better review soon!

Ok so ive owned it for 5 days now! :)

still smiling like a fool!!!!

cant really find fault with anything it does! interior is top notch. in some places better than the golf but you can see where the savings have been made (minor stuff - no damped jesus handle no lights on sun shades etc) not stuff you would notice or even use!! so i dont really care.

the DSG is amazing would reccomend to anyone - only issue i have is there is little room between the paddles and the stalks (have flashed someone going for a changedown!)

the columbus and bluetooth phone are superb expensive but as im a tech geek they are top notch and worth the massive outlay of cash!

marborough were pretty good although i was left sat int he showroom on me own waiting for 15 mins. sorted all the paperwork handed over the keys and went round the car. was pretty business like but mike and kuldip were very good.

my only gripe is i paid for an ipod cable and it wasnt in the car ( i was told it had been ordered and received) i presume they had either lost it or sold it to someone else. they said they would put it in the post but im not at home so cant tell if it arrived!

cant really say im displeased with anything at all on the car! it drives superb and is more comfortable than the golf.

would have ordered other options if i could have afforded them heated seats, parking sensors and xenons being top of the list! but im more than happy. the white is superb the only other colour i would have had was black.

will let you know more when i have clocked up more miles!!

I know this is too late for this posting but worth bearing in mind

I think one very important thing that I would be most sure to check is that all the the items you ordered for your car are in fact supplied.

We all heard the stories about power folding mirrors and VBF sagas.

So do check most carefully BEFORE you sign the acceptance papers. This is most important as once you have signed acceptance it is more difficult to go back and reject the car, should you want to.

Inspect then sign if all is well and acceptable.
