help

i am so fed up with garages talking down to me

we have fault problems!!

potted history

feb engine managment system fault occured and we took it to a garage to be sorted....................fast forward 14 days and then the management system showed a fault again on the monday it went in with the fault 17546, 16825 and 16500...............they replaced the temperature sensor............................20 miles later the fault light re appeared this time the faults where 16556, 16825 and 17459, they then replaced the sensor and the thermostat which had disintergrated..........................................20 miles later yep the light comes back on with the same faults

they want to change the ECU (after telling me it is the brain of the car!!) i think there is a basic fault with the car that is not being addressed but they are determined it is the ECU

would a fault with the lampon sensor? give the above codes?

and what is the lampon sensor> another mechanic at the garage keep talking about it but was hushed up

Take it to a different garage, preferably one that specialises in VW/Audi/Skoda. The codes indicate a problem with the fuelling/fuel mixture. I wouldn't think that there is anything wrong with the ECU.

I've had a 1.4, mine was a 16v petrol though, not sure if yours is.

I had a fault with the temp sensor like you that was causing very slow and difficult starting with unpredictable idle.

The brake pedal light switch can also cause the EPC light intermittently but I think this has a very specific error code.

I also had a fault with the fuel pump relay.

The fuel pump relay was not always powering up the fuel pump but this does not kick up any obvious "fuel supply pump" errors.. instead it came up with injector error codes as they were reporting they couldn't function

If your seeing injector errors it could well be this relay. Have you had any trouble starting it or has it cut out for absolutely no apparent reason? These were my symptoms.

It'd turn and turn but not go.. and then, like magic, would be fine (once the relay clicked and powered up the pump).

Defiantly take it to another garage, a VAG specialist.
