It was not until recently I discovered that the proper way to open the fuel flap was to press it in and the spring should lift it away from the body. I have just been using my fingers at the edge to open it.

However, my flap does not do this. It seems the spring/plunger mech is a little sticky or stiff. Is there a guide to fixing/lubing this part?

Not really troublesome but I like things to work how they should

You could try silicone grease on the seal around the flap. Mine is the same regarding the flap being stiff if you push it in, but it takes less effort to open without pushing it in, so I've given it no more attention.
