Delighted with my SE

Featured Replies

Hi everybody

Took delivery of my SE on Thursday and really delighted with it to date.

I am working my way through the various features (and a very thick manual), I know there are many tricks you guys and girls know so here is my 1st question.

The car has 3 aux power supplies, I usually run a fridge in the boot, I noticed yesterday while the guys were out the fridge remained running, checking the manual confirms that all power supplies remain "supplied with power" even when the key is out meaning I need to unplug the fridge when the car is parked. can this be changed (my previous Honda when removing the key turned off power to aux sockets) ?

Cheers

Tony

It's a real plus point on Skoda's to have the sockets live all the time.

When you say fridge do you mean one of those cool box type ones which is basically a very efficient heatsink with a fan on the top?

If so I have run my one with the engine switched off for 6 hours+ many times and had no issues starting the car when I got back. They take very little electricity.

I find the 12V feed always being on very useful in my Octavia.

The cooling box i have, has a sensor for low voltage - so it automatically turns off when it hits a certain level, so you can always start the car.

I believe i have seen such low voltage contraptions for sale seperately. Could be a good idea.

Are you refering to the genuine skoda powered car cooling box, 6-litre and 18-litre capacity? I quite fancy one.

Except when in midwinter my two dvd screens tapped the battery for so much power that the car would not start after being parked for two days. Doh! Bought an auxillary charger and oddly enough the indicater always shows 25% or 50% when plugged in. Fully charged after an hour or so though. Mind you the car is only driven12 kilometers (twice) every day, maybe not enough to recharge the battery after starting in wintertime?
