Is it possible to upgrade the infotainment screen?

Featured Replies

Hey, I recently bought a Skoda Fabia Mk3 and I want to upgrade the infotainment unit from the 6V0 035 871 B (i think?) to the larger screen (6V0 035 869 H maybe?).
I was thinking of buying a secondhand unit (preferably one with SmartLink activated) from another car, but I'm not quite sure if it is plug-and-play, or if it's even possible.

Anyone who knows if this works, and can share their knowledge? :)
The VIN is TMBJN6NJ8GZ021002

Possible but:

  1. New unit must be assigned online to your car (component protection removal) by Skoda dealer or someone with ODIS ONLINE account for Skoda.

  2. SmartLink will stop working after few hours (up to 8) and can NOT be officially activated. The only possibility is to have the new unit patched. Unfortunately I don't know anyone neither the way to have it patched. It's possible to patch Bolero or Amundsen unit but this requires more parts to be replaced (display unit, infotainment reader, harness to connect both units and, if you want to use CarPlay, then also USB, port).

@pab567 So I'm pretty much screwed if I want CarPlay, since I need to change pretty much everything? :)

I have made several such retrofits, its not a very big deal when you have all the parts pre-programmed and patched. If you are interested in getting such kit pls contact me in PM.

@pab567 Good evening, Could you PM me regarding that set aswell?

I am interested in having carplay and smartlink functionality and possibly installing a reversing camera while keeping the OEM functionality and looks out of the OEM display.

We have the same unit as the poster of this post has, and I want to upgrade to a unit like this one: https://rrr.lt/en/used-part/djx59862-6v0919604c-skoda-fabia-mk3-nj-screen-display-small-screen?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign={campaignname}&campaign_id=22519729593&group_id=?gc_id=22519729593&g_special_campaign=true&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22519732965&gbraid=0AAAAADGoELoyXrhmKPEWzsIREBDQ67loe&gclid=CjwKCAiA8bvIBhBJEiwAu5ayrBT8nouSgpzxR7jRWU5OiDC7GtJ8Fdj2U7GJq6Cuqj_JGXC8a-hMchoCyMEQAvD_BwE

Many thanks to you.

Best regards,

Kay.
