sluggish power after hit 70mph

Featured Replies

hi everybody just got myself a 2002 octy 1.9 tdi ambiente estate 90 bhp, problem is once it gets up to about 70 mph it seems to run out of breath.

car has full skoda history and just been serviced at 112000 miles.

any ideas where i should start looking?

cheers

Almost certainly the MAF. Try unplugging it. If it gets better or not any worse then this confirms it.

You have a 90bhp car. Live with it!

Wheres the maf on a vrs? Mite be the cause of y my car feels sluggish and a bit rough sometimes.

MAF is in the same place on diesels and petrols, in the main (large) air pipe after the air filter. it is connected into this pipe, and you will see a wire and connector

yep, i understand there are some fannies on here, and yes it is only a 90 bhp car, but 70 isnt its top speed.......... come on some whizz must know more about these things, or would i be better logging into scottishvag.com and get some real answers.

Trying it as suggested in post #2 would be a start. If you have VCDS you can log actual and required MAF readings on a test drive which would prove whether it was at fault or not. If it is not the MAF, then you could be looking at a variable vane problem with the turbo.
