Sat Nav Coding Without Sat Nav?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Strange Question,

I have had my FL VRS [DSG CR] for just over a month now and I didn't spec nav or bluetooth.

I have now managed to get hold of a OEM bluetooth module and harness [and bluetooth antenna and mic etc..] which i'm going to install this week sometime.

I know to get it work correctly I need to get the car coded.

If I got the car coded for use with Nav when I still have a bolero installed, what will happen?

I intend to add a Columbus at some point, but not quite yet, will it just not show up because its not there, or show up but be unaccessable, or would it be accessable but crash the thing [don't want that]

Just wondering if anyone has done it, and has any thoughts....

Tried the search with no avail.

Cheers!

It should be fine. All the will happen is you'll get a harmless DTC stored on the CAN gateway module for the incorrect coding.

You will find that you will either get a DTC as Nick says regarding the coding.

Or the Can-Gateway will just show that the car is coded for the nav but it isn't present.

It MAY stop the Bolero working but if it does it wont be lasting damage etc you would just have to undo what you did to code the Nav in.

Just make sure that before you start messing with the coding you scan the car and save the codes log so you can return it back to how it was if you forget what you did.

Cheers for the replies and help guys!

Just need to get it all sorted now!

Car is brilliant though!

Really prefer it to my E46 BMW 3, in all ways possible!

Cheers!
