Repair costs for a 2001 MPI

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I know prices will vary a lot, but that is exactly why I am hoping for some help from you.

The last service brought up a number of things to be repaired. As the main Skoda deales here in Denmark are a total rip-off, I often go to Sweden to get various things done (15 min on the bridge), as I reckon prices at the official dealerships are around 80% of those in Denmark. However the last quote a I get from an independent chain in Sweden was only 45% of the price for the official Skoda dealership in the same area in Sweden, and as they even make their quotes in different fashions, I am at a bit of a loss...

If any of you could drum up an estimate on labour time of the below repairs, I'd appreciate it.

Reverse white light contact doesn't work. Needs to be replaced.

Front left spring broken. Needs replacing.

Back left shock absorber leaks. I guess it needs to replaced as well?

R+L front console bushings worn. need replacement. (Skoda in Sweden wants around 180 GBP pr bushing, I saw a quote here on Briskoda on 60-70 GBP :( )

Belt for heater worn. Needs replacing.

Rear brakes squealing. Started in fall, but due to winter there has been no sound, so I've probably been driving too long for them to just be lubricated. What is the part called in English that you then need to replace? Brake pads?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Best regards.

The brake bits are either the disks (round, silver bits) or the pads (which press into the disk), sorry if thats too basic, but trying to make it easy to understand. Don't lubricate the actaul surface, but I guess you know that!

The spring me and my dad (ok, just my dad) replaced our/himselves. With no real knowledge of the car, it took around 2-3 hours I would reckon, maybe a bit more. Of course, a garage will be a lot faster, but it shoudn't take too long.

I can't really help at all, but would like to say your English is amazing! If I could speak another language anywhere near as well as that I'd be delighed, let alone write/spell correctly!
