Does clutch cable need adjusting? How to?

Featured Replies

Hi,

My better half has reported that he had difficulty sometimes in getting the car into gear when stationary today, the car was idling at lights. I suspect the clutch cable may need adjusting. Does this sound likely?

How do you adjust the clutch cable on a skoda? I've previously done it on a seicento (you needed to be a contortionist to do this - like when replacing its radiator...). Is it the same principle?

Many TIA.

Try lifting clutch in neutral and then pressing it again, I found the gears sticky sometimes in my vRS and this seemed to sort it.

the clutch is hydraulic, so its self adjusting, if you can't get it in gear when sationary, then you have a clutch drag issue or a hydraulic issue

boy - do I feel stupid now - I didn't know it was self adjusting!!

Thanks guys!

Could simply be air in the hydraulics if brake fluid change (every 2 years) has been ignored. Clutch uses same circuit as brakes and can be bled. Other possibility is faulty clutch release bearing (gearbox out job)
