Just booking my Octy PD Vrs in for its 40k 4 year service,,,yes the cam belt one and have got a quote back for around 480-500,,,does this sound reasonable for the work involved ??

Is that for the belt change only or are you having a service carried out as well?

For reference, I had the belt and water pump changed on mine approx one month ago at my local VW garage for £400.

Belt and tensioners only would've been £350.

Just had a quote (9/3/2010) ,belt only £350, with water pump £449. From a Skoda dealer. Hope this is of use.

Does the water pump need changing as well ??

Apparently its best to have both done at the same time. If water pump goes after new belt installed, you could have to replace the new belt as well - - at least thats what the dealer told me.
