Activating both interior lights

Featured Replies

I managed to get another interior light with the map ones on the side for the rear of my estate, fitted and working in 2 Min's, then went to the auto electricians to get them wired so that the front and rear ones come on by useing one of the map buttons, they took one look and said the buttons could be wired to save using the slide switch but, due to the can bus system they could not wire them both together.

They said there maybe an option in vag com to enable this could one of you with vag com please have a look and if so where it can be found

Short answer is you can't

If you get a good electrician and use resistors etc then maybe you can but with VCDS it's not possible

I have the same thing as you. Have the W8 light at the front and the old front light in the rear. They will only work independantly

You can wire the rear to come on when you switch on the front. I have just had it done today. Its a taxi so has to have a light for rear passengers controlled from the front. Same guy did my previous Octavia, in fact he does all Octavia taxis like that.

Only thing is, the rear cannot now work on its own, but that doesn't matter to me.

Dito, get him to come on here and explain how its done, or get a full break down and post mines a taxi as well

Thats what I want, to turn the back one on useing the front one but also useing one of the buttons instead of the slider

When I asked about it here they said it could mess up the light controller and it could cost around £500 to replace

If anyone can post a wiring diagram / schematic, we can see the easiest way to implement this. Nothing's impossible :)

... i've got a bit of a background in electronics and i'd be happy to help ...

He has wired mine up using the slider, dont know if it can be done just using the buttons. If you pm me i'll give you the number of the company.
