My eldest son's lost the charging/sync cable for his 3g Shuffle. This is the small narrow one with no buttons on the unit itself. It uses buttons on the headphone cable.

I bought a replacement cable on eBay but it turns out that it's for the 2nd Generation iPod Shuffle and doesn't charge the little iPod. I hope I haven't fried it!

If anyone has a charging cable for the 3g shuffle, I'm looking to find out what the cable pinout is so that I can alter the 2G cable I have.

The suggestion would seem that you need to cut the +5v line....
